OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention refers to a cover for suitcases. The cover which is the object
of the invention is used basically to cover suitcases although it may have other applications
and could be used with vanity cases or briefcases.
[0002] The present invention is characterised by the fact that it comprises at least one
sheet of material which can be placed on one of the lateral walls of the suitcase
and which has at least some upper and lower extensions which are situated on the upper
and lower part of the suitcase and at least one lateral extension designed to be placed
on the sides thereof.
BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION
[0003] It is a fact that suitcases may suffer damage during travel, mainly at airports,
receiving blows and scratches which can quickly lead to their deterioration. In addition,
suitcases accumulate dirt generated during transport or handling.
[0004] There are various means available for protecting suitcases from the aforementioned
disadvantages, such as, for example, wrapping the suitcase in a film dispensed by
machine such as those found in airports. Nevertheless, this method has the disadvantage
that it can only be used on a single occasion.
[0005] There is also the possibility of protecting luggage with a number of tapes so that
it is protected from involuntary or intentional opening or the possibility of spilling
the contents of the luggage in the event of breakage. However, the suitcase is still
totally unprotected from blows and dirt.
[0006] The present invention overcomes the previous disadvantages by means of a suitcase
cover which protects luggage from dirt and blows as well as protecting its contents,
increasing security and at the same time it is provided with the means for providing
an attractive design as well as the possibility of including advertising thereon.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The suitcase cover which is the object of the invention is designed to safeguard
to the maximum, both the integrity of the suitcase itself and its contents, thus resolving
the aforementioned problems.
[0008] The invention is characterised in that it comprises at least one sheet of material
which can be placed on one of the lateral walls of the suitcase. This sheet is provided
with at least some upper and lower extensions which are designed to be placed on the
upper and lower part of the suitcase and at least one lateral extension designed to
be placed on the sides thereof.
[0009] In this way the cover is situated so that it protects the whole case from external
agents, such as dirt or blows while also protecting the contents and preventing objects
to be introduced into the case once the cover is in place.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010] The present descriptive report is supplemented by a series of drawings illustrative
of a preferred embodiment but not however restricting the invention in any way.
[0011] Figure 1 shows a perspective diagram of suitcase on which a preferred embodiment
of the cover which is the object of this invention has been arranged.
[0012] Figure 2 shows a diagram of the development of a preferred embodiment of cover for
suitcases.
[0013] Figure 3 shows a diagram of the development of another preferred embodiment of cover
for suitcases.
[0014] Figure 4 shows a diagram of the development of another preferred embodiment of the
cover which is the object of the invention.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0015] The suitcase cover of the preferred embodiments is provided with a sheet which may
be situated, for example, on the back part (1) of the suitcase and which has upper
(2) and lower (3) extensions and a lateral extension (4) designed to be situated on
the sides of the suitcase. In the preferred embodiment shown in the attached figures,
the upper (2) and lower(3) extensions extend to the front part of the suitcase.
[0016] Figures 2 and 3 also show how in addition to the upper extension (2) the cover is
provided with at least one hole (2.1) so that the handles or pullers with which the
suitcase is provided can pass through.
[0017] In addition, these upper (2) and lower (3) extensions are provided with the means
for connection so that the cover would close over the suitcase. In the preferred embodiment
these connection means consist of straps (2.2) which enable the upper part (2) and
the lower part (3) to be joined. Other means would be possible such as for example,
velcro strips or zips.
[0018] In addition to the upper extension (2), the lower extension may also be provided
with holes (3.1) which may be arranged in various situations, forms and size as in
order to house the suitcase wheels, should the case possess these means, or any other
means of support or stabilisation which the case may be provided with, so that the
functionality of the suitcase is not lost by using the cover.
[0019] In a preferred embodiment the lateral extension (4) may be joined permanently to
the back part (1) of the cover, see figure 4. In this case part of the lateral extension
(4) should be made from elastic material which facilitates introduction of the body
of the suitcase. For example, the front part (4.1) and the back part (1) may be made
from rigid or semi-rigid material and the sides (4.2) from elastic material.
[0020] In another preferred embodiment shown in figure 2, the back layer (1) of the cover
is provided with respective lateral extensions (4, 5) so that they surround the sides
of the suitcase.
[0021] The cover materials may be semi-rigid or elastic, or also they may be a combination
of both materials, as mentioned previously.
1. Suitcase cover characterised in that it comprises at least one sheet of material (1) which can be situated on one of the
lateral walls of the suitcase which is provided with at least some upper (2) and lower
(3) extensions designed to be placed on the upper and lower parts of the suitcase
and at least one lateral extension(4) designed to be situated on the sides of the
suitcase.
2. Suitcase cover, according to claim 1, characterised in that the upper extension (2) is provided with at least one hole (2.1) for the handles
or pullers of the suitcase to pass through.
3. Suitcase cover, according to claim 1, characterised in that the upper (2) and lower (3) extensions extend to the side walls of the suitcase.
4. Suitcase cover, according to claim 3, characterised in that the upper (2) and lower (3) extensions are provided with connection means.
5. Suitcase cover, according to claim 4 characterised in that the connection means consist of straps (2.2).
6. Suitcase cover, according to claim 1, characterised in that the lower extension (3) is provided with at least one hole (3.1) for wheels or stabilisers
to pass through.
7. Suitcase cover, according to claim 1, characterised in that the lateral extension (4) is arranged so that it is joined at its free end to the
layer (1).
8. Suitcase cover, according to claim 7, characterised in that it is provided with sections of the lateral walls (4.2) comprising elastic material.
9. Suitcase cover, according to claim 1 characterised in that the layer (1) is provided with respective lateral extensions (4, 5).
10. Suitcase cover, according to claim 1 characterised in that the layer (1) consists of elastic material.
11. Suitcase cover, according to claim 1 characterised in that it consists of semi-rigid material.
12. Suitcase cover, according to claim 1 characterised in that it consists of a combination of elastic and semi-rigid materials.
