Rodeo or Riding Device |
(57) A riding device includes a crank device rotatably attached to a base, and a rider
support supported on a carrier and movable relative to the base for supporting a rider,
the carrier has a front portion pivotally coupled to the base and a rear portion coupled
to the cranks for moving cyclically relative to the base and for allowing the carrier
to be moved in an elliptical action relative to the base by the crank device, and
a motor or motorized rotating device for rotating the crank device relative to the
base in the cyclic action to actuate the carrier and the rider support to move relative
to the base in an elliptical action.
|
|
[0001] The invention relates to a rodeo or riding device.
[0002] Typical riding or rodeo devices comprise a drive mechanism having a crank arm coupled
to a rider support to simulate the bucking and/or spinning motions of a rodeo animal
attempting to unseat its rider.
[0003] However, the drive mechanism is solidly coupled to the rider support with the crank
arm such that the rider support may not be moved relative to the crank arm and the
drive mechanism in an elliptical action and in different moving stroke.
[0004] The invention is to provide a rodeo or riding device including a rider support supported
on a carrier which is movable relative to a base by the user or by a motorized driving
or rotating device.
FIGS. 1, 2 are perspective views of a riding device;
FIGS. 3, 4 are partial exploded views of the riding device; and
FIGS. 5, 6 are side plan views of the riding device.
[0005] Referring to FIGS. 1-5, a riding device comprises an I-shaped base 10 including a
column 11 extended from one or front end 18, a stud 12 extended from the other or
rear end 19, a crank device 13 or one or more (such as two) cranks 13 attached to
the stud 12 with an axle 14, a pole 15 is attached to the free end of each crank 13.
A carrier 30 includes one or more (such as two) levers 31, 32 having one or front
end 33 coupled together with a barrel which is coupled to the column 11 with a link
16 and a pin 17, in which the link 16 may be directly or indirectly coupled to the
column 11, a bar 34 is coupled between the levers 31, 32. The carrier 30 includes
a rear end 35 coupled to the poles 15 of the cranks 13 directly or indirectly with
a pendulum 39 for being moved by the cranks 13 or for swinging relative to the cranks
13 with the pendulum 39. A housing 36 is disposed on the bar 34 for supporting a rider
support 37 and a rider, the rider support 37 may be adjusted up and down relative
to the housing 36 and the carrier 30.
[0006] The rear portion 35 of the levers 31, 32 or the carrier 30 may move cyclically relative
to the base 10 with the cranks 13, and may swing with the pendulum 39, and the front
end 33 of the carrier 30 is pivotally coupled to the base 10 with the link 16 and
the pin 17 for swinging relative to the base 10 such that the carrier 30 may be moved
relative to the base 10 in an elliptical action by the cranks 13 and by the rider.
A driving or rotating device 20 is disposed on the base 10 and coupled to the cranks
13 in order to rotate the cranks 13, and includes a pulley 21 attached to the stud
12 with a shaft 22, and a motor 23 disposed on the base 10 and having a spindle 24
(FIG. 3) coupled to the pulley 21 with a coupling belt or device 25, for rotating
the pulley 21, and a fly wheel 26 attached to the stud 12 with the axle 14 and coupled
to the shaft 22 of the pulley 21 with another coupling belt or device 27 (FIGS. 5-6),
for allowing the pulley 21 and the cranks 13 to be driven by the motor 23. A brake
device 28 may be engaged with the belt 27 for braking the fly wheel 26 of the motor
driving or rotating means or device 20.
[0007] An arm 40 may be coupled to the column 11 with a pin 41, and the link 16 has an upper
portion 44 coupled to the arm 40 with a pole 45 which is spaced from the pin 41, and
an actuating lever 42 is coupled to one of the cranks 13 and coupled to the arm 40
with a rod 43 which is spaced from the pin 41 and the pole 45, and the pole 45 is
disposed between the pin 41 and the rod 43, such that the arm 40 may be moved by the
cranks 13, and the pole 45 or the upper portion 44 of the link 16 may be moved in
a curve around the pin 41 and may be moved up and down relative to the column 11 for
allowing the carrier 30 and the rider support 37 to be moved in a changing or increased
or different moving strokes.
[0008] The link 16 may be directly coupled to the column 11 and may swing relative to the
column 11, but may not be moved up and down relative to the column 11. The pivotal
coupling of the upper portion 44 of the link 16 to the arm 40 with the pole 45 allows
the pole 45 or the upper portion 44 of the link 16 to be moved up and down relative
to the column 11 and allows the rider support 37 to be moved in the changing or increased
or different moving strokes.
1. A riding device comprising a base and a rider support,
