(54) LED lamp with cooling provision

(57) LED lamp, formed by a housing (2) provided with LEDS (3) and with means for the connection of the LEDS (3) to a power supply, which housing (2) comprises a window (4) for the transmission of the light of the LEDS (3) to outside the housing (2), characterized in that at least a part of the housing (2) other than the window is formed by a heat-conducting material.

Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a LED lamp, formed by a housing provided with LEDS and with means for the connection of the LEDS to a power supply, which housing comprises a window for the transmission of the light of the LEDS to outside the housing.

[0002] Such a lamp is known.

[0003] The known lamp is made from glass or plastic.

[0004] LED lamps have the drawback, that when they become too warm the light intensity and the life decrease strongly. By the use of glass or plastic with the known lamp the possibility of cooling the lamp is limited.

[0005] The invention aims to obviate this drawback of the known LED lamp.

[0006] The LED lamp according to the invention to that end is characterized in that at least a part of the housing other than the window is formed by a heat-conducting material.

[0007] According to a characteristic of the LED lamp according to the invention the whole part or substantially the whole part of the housing other than the window is formed by a heat-conducting material.

[0008] According to a further characteristic of the LED lamp according to the invention the material is formed by a metal.

[0009] According to another characteristic of the LED lamp according to the invention the material is formed by aluminium.

[0010] According to a characteristic of the LED lamp according to the invention this is formed by a LED strip-light or tube.

[0011] The invention will now be described further with reference to the drawing of an example of an embodiment formed by a LED strip-light or tube.

[0012] Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a LED strip-light according to the invention.

[0013] Figure 2 shows a cross-section of the LED strip-light according to figure 1.

[0014] As is shown in figures 1 and 2 the LED strip-light 1 comprises a tubular housing 2 which on the inside is provided with a plate extending in the longitudinal direction of the housing 2, the plate being provided with LEDS 3 (figure 2), and the housing further at the side of the LEDS 3 being formed by a window 4 extending in the longitudinal direction of the housing 2 for the transmission of the light of the LEDS to outside the housing 2.
In the shown example of the embodiment of the LED strip-light or tube the whole part 5 of the housing other than the window 4 is formed by a heat-conducting material. This can be a metal, such as aluminium.

[0015] By the use thereof an optimal cooling of the lamp is obtained.

Claims

1. LED lamp, formed by a housing provided with LEDS and with means for the connection of the LEDS to a power supply, which housing comprises a window for the transmission of the light of the LEDS to outside the housing, characterized in that at least a part of the housing other than the window is formed by a heat-conducting material.

2. LED lamp according to claim 1, characterized in that the whole part or substantially the whole part of the housing other than the window is formed by a heat-conducting material.

3. LED lamp according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the material is formed by a metal.

4. LED lamp according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the material is formed by aluminium.

5. LED lamp according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it is formed by a LED strip-light or tube.
