[0001] The present invention relates to the sector of anti-intrusion devices and, more particularly,
to the sector relating to anti-intrusion devices installed along enclosures such as
meshwork fences and the like.
At present the most widely known devices of this type emit an alarm signal when they
detect an intrusion which results in the interruption of one or more wires of a current-conveying
electric circuit suitably arranged along the said enclosure (in the case of metal
meshwork fences the meshes themselves may be used as conductors to form the abovementioned
circuit). The main disadvantage of this type of anti-intrusion device consists in
the fact that it may be easily breached by specialists who are able to create bridges
or bypasses at the point where they intend to cut the enclosure, so as to maintain
the continuity of the circuit even when its conductors have been cut. Alternatively
there exist fixed installations which create a rigid and impenetrable cage around
the building to be protected, which, if touched, transmits the contact pulse to sensors
which, however, take into account only certain well-defined predetermined frequencies.
The limitation of these installations consists in the total lack of flexibility and
extendibility, being designed from a conceptual point of view to be fixed, irremovable
and without the possibility of adjustment.
[0003] The inventor of the present patent application has thought to provide a highly flexible
system which does not damage the wall on which it is installed when removed or repositioned
and which can also be easily adjusted in terms of its dimensions and extension. Owing
to these characteristic features of being modular and flexible in terms of use, the
present device may be readily extended when there is a change in requirements of the
location to be protected, preventing an intruder who intends breaching the enclosure
by cutting it or passing over it, from being able to penetrate inside it unnoticed.
The intruder must, in fact, necessarily make contact physically with the enclosure
according to the present patent application in order to overcome it, exerting on it
a force which, even though minimal, is nevertheless sufficient to cause it to vibrate
with oscillations having an amplitude and frequency dependent on the characteristics
of the physical parameters at play.
The present patent application therefore intends describing an anti-intrusion device
which is efficient, highly flexible, dismountable and easily adjustable according
to the changes in requirements. Said system ensures a removable and adjustable enclosure,
on which an apparatus with a sensitivity able to detect vibrations even with a minimum
amplitude may be installed, detecting the abovementioned oscillations immediately
and emitting a consequent alarm signal, sending it via radio or by similar means to
whoever is monitoring the enclosure.
[0004] The device according to the present invention is formed so as to be able to be simply
incorporated in the concrete support kerb on which the said enclosure is fixed in
an entirely removable manner, using simple fixing screws which allow the installation
of the system without further additional building work. The present method therefore
allows the removal or the disassembly of the entire enclosure, without having to act
on in any way or damage the concrete support. By means of the locating member 10 containing
adjusting screws situated at the base of the removable post 3, it is also possible
to adjust suitably the vertical position of the said removable support post, so as
to functionally adapt it for correct installation of the anti-intrusion meshwork.
This possibility of adjusting the post also speeds up considerably the installation
of the said meshwork. The present system is provided with a housing which, in addition
to containing the alarm apparatus with the associated vibration sensors, terminates
at the top in a vertical tubular element inside which a removable support post of
the enclosure may be inserted and which is positioned so as to be integral, directly
or indirectly, with the said sensors and, generally, with the part of the apparatus
containing them. The entire assembly, in order to meet changing requirements, is therefore
able to be easily dismounted by simply removing the support post from the housing
without damaging in any way either the support part of the kerb or the meshwork itself.
The device according to the invention, if applied to each removable support post of
an enclosure, forms an unbreachable protective barrier: moreover, even if somebody
should attempt to remove or neutralise the device, the said sensors of the already
described apparatus would detect this immediately, neutralising the attempted intrusion.
[0005] The object of the present invention therefore consists in a removable and adjustable
device for detecting and signalling attempts at breaching any continuous enclosure
in accordance with that described in the accompanying Claim 1. The external structure
of the support post may have any desired height, shape and form, ensuring broad and
specific flexibility of use.
A detailed description of a preferred example of embodiment of the device according
to the present invention will now be provided, with reference also to the accompanying
drawings in which:
- Figure 1 is a longitudinal cross-section through the said example of embodiment of
the device according to the invention applied to a concrete support kerb;
- Figure 2 is a perspective view of the device alone according to Figure 1;
- Figure 3 is an illustration of the rapid engagement system, showing the removable
support post 3 ready for insertion inside the housing 6 which contains the detection
apparatus 5;
- Figure 4 is a longitudinally sectioned view in which the removable support post 3
completely inserted inside the housing 6 can be seen;
- Figure 5 is a longitudinally sectioned illustration of the lateral movement which
the removable support post 3 manages to perform owing to the action of the locating
member 10 containing at least two base adjusters.
[0006] If we consider Figure 1, in this figure it can be seen how a device 1 according to
the present invention is applied to a continuous removable enclosure 2 fixed onto
removable support posts 3 secured to a concrete support kerb 4.
As shown in the Figure, the device 1 may be "embedded" for the most part in the concrete
of the kerb 4, being incorporated therein during casting, or may be simply fixed to
the latter using any known technique, also employing, to ensure correct positioning
thereof, a locating member 10 which has at least two adjusters and is rested horizontally
against the upper side 4s of the kerb 4. Said locating member 10 has two or more common
adjusters which allow the inclination of the support post 3 to be modified, as shown
in Figure 5.
[0007] The device 1 is provided with a housing 6 which accommodates internally an apparatus
5 which detects the vibrations of the enclosure 2 by means of one or more sensors
8 integral therewith.
This housing 6 extends upwards in the form of a tubular element 7 with a vertical
axis T-T, designed so as to contain internally, without play, the bottom end 3i of
a removable support post 3 of the enclosure 2 (only schematically shown in the drawing)
positioned so as to be directly or indirectly in contact with the abovementioned one
or more sensors 8. In the example shown, the contact is indirect and is performed
by means of a push-rod 9 which is integral with the apparatus 5 and is kept, using
known methods (resilient parts, springs, etc.), in contact with the said bottom end
3i of the support post 3. In the case in question, this push-rod 9 penetrates inside
a recess 11 formed in the abovementioned bottom end 3i and also acts as a stopping
and locking member.
[0008] Figure 2 show the same device according to Figure 1, not yet applied to an enclosure.
[0009] The different features and their component parts have been indicated using the same
reference numbers as in Figure 1, for which reason the description provided hitherto
may be applied without variation also to Figure 2.
[0010] Any vibration affecting the enclosure 2 and consequently the removable post 3 and
its bottom end 3i is detected (if necessary by means of an amplification system of
the known type) and signalled to the person or to the organisation responsible for
monitoring the enclosure.
[0011] This signalling operation may be performed preferably via radio or by means of analog
signals conveyed by a suitable circuit which reaches all the devices arranged along
the enclosure. The housing 6 may be inserted inside a masonry support or fixed to
the latter using ordinary securing means so that it may subsequently be easily removed
after the alarm system has been deactivated.
[0012] An anti-intrusion device which cannot be breached, is dismountable, is adjustable
as regards its inclination and is easy to apply is thus provided, thereby achieving
