(54) Tape cassette and tape printer

(57) A tape cassette 30 includes a tape mounted within a cassette case 31. The cassette case 31 includes an arm portion 34 that guides the tape inside and discharges the tape from an exit 34A. An arm front surface 35 of the arm portion 34 includes an arm indicator portion adjacent to the exit 34A. The arm indicator portion includes at least one aperture and indicates a tape type.. A person can identify the tape type by visually checking the arm indicator portion. The tape printer 1 includes detecting switches 210. A part of the detecting switches 210 that opposes a surface portion other than the aperture in the arm indicator portion is selectively pressed. The tape printer 1 can identify the same tape type as identified by the visual check based on detection results of the detecting switches 210.
