    Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a drawer including a drawer panel and a drawer box according to the preamble of claim 1.

[0002] A typical drawer including a drawer panel and a drawer box requires a lot of fixation elements for connecting the drawer panel to the drawer box. In the most cases, screws are used as fixation elements. Thus, the assembly of the drawer takes a long time.

[0003] US 4,108,520 discloses a front corner for a drawer. Said front corner is mounted onto a front panel of the drawer by a plug-in connection. The front corner and the front panel are interlocked by detent members and complementary apertures. The side walls of the drawer are also connected to the front corner by a plug-in connection. In a similar way, the side walls and the rear wall of the drawer are connected by a rear corner with plug-in connections. The assembly of the drawer requires no fixation elements.

[0004] WO 2009/111807 A2 discloses a drawer having a fastening device for wall elements. The drawer has a drawer frame and a substantially straight wall part. Said wall part comprises two first wall elements and one second wall element being connectable to each other by the fastening device. The first wall elements comprise holding parts, which can be snapped into a detachable detent units of the drawer frame. The fastening device comprises at least one handle element and a locking element, which can be released and locked by the handle element. The first and second wall elements can be fixed relative to each other after having been positioned. However, the fastening device is relative complex and the frontal wall part is aesthetically undesirable in that it visibly comprises said second wall element and said two first wall elements.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a drawer including a drawer panel and a drawer box, which allows a simplified assembly of the drawer panel and the drawer box.

[0005] The object of the present invention is achieved by the drawer according to claim 1.

[0006] The present invention relates to a drawer including a drawer panel and a drawer box, wherein:
    • the drawer panel forms a front panel of the drawer,
    • the drawer panel comprises an upper bending and a lower bending,
    • the upper bending and the lower bending are directed rearwards to the drawer box,
    • the drawer box comprises at least a bottom wall and two side walls,
    • a pair of elongated support elements is arranged or arrangeable vertically at the lateral end portions of the drawer panel,
    • the support elements are clamped or clampable between the upper bending and the lower bending of the drawer panel, and
    • the side walls of the drawer box are connected or connectable to the support elements
    • characterized in that the drawer panel comprises a side frame at each lateral end portion of said drawer panel. Said two side frames are formed at the lateral edges of the drawer panel,

[0007] The main idea of the present invention is the pair of support elements, which are clamped or clampable between the upper bending and the lower bending of the drawer panel wherein the drawer panel comprises a side frame at each lateral end portion of said drawer panel, so that no fixing elements are required in order to connect the support elements to the drawer panel.

[0008] In particular, the drawer panel is made of a metal sheet. In a similar way, the drawer box is preferably made of at least one metal sheet. In contrast, the support elements may be made of plastics.

[0009] Further, the side walls of the drawer box may be connected or connectable to the support elements by screws. Alternatively, the side walls of the drawer box may be connected or connectable to the support elements by other fixing elements.

[0010] The drawer panel comprises a side frame at each lateral end portion of said drawer panel.

[0011] For example, a vertical gap may be formed in an upper portion of the side frame. The gap may be formed by narrowing the side frame. The drawer box comprises a rear wall.

[0012] Preferably, the support element comprises at least one tampion in order to assure the correct position of the drawer box at the support element before the fixation of said drawer box.

[0013] In particular, the support element comprises at least one pin element at its lower end portion for forming a snap-in mechanism with a narrow side of the lower bending of the drawer panel.

[0014] At last, the support element may comprise at least one pad in its central portion in order to assure the alignment of the side wall of the drawer box.

[0015] Novel and inventive features of the present invention are set forth in the appended claims.

    FIG 8
illustrates a perspective rear view of a drawer box for the drawer according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention.

[0017] FIG 1 illustrates a perspective rear view of a drawer panel 10 for a drawer according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. The drawer panel 10 forms a front panel of the drawer.

[0018] The drawer panel 10 is substantially formed as a sheet. Preferably, the drawer panel 10 is made of a metal sheet. An upper bending 16 is formed at the top edge of the drawer panel 10. In a similar way, a lower bending 18 is formed at the bottom edge of the drawer panel 10. The upper bending 16 and the lower bending 18 are directed rearwards. The upper bending 16 and the lower bending 18 have vertical and horizontal portions in each case. In other words, the upper bending 16 forms a U-shaped profile with an open bottom side, and the lower bending 18 forms a U-shaped profile with an open upper side.

[0019] Two side frames 20 are formed at the lateral edges of the drawer panel 10. However, the side frames 20 are arranged with their total width only at the lower portions of the lateral edges, so that a pair of gaps 22 is formed behind the upper portion of the lateral edges.

[0020] FIG 2 illustrates a perspective front view of an inserted drawer according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. The drawer is inserted in a cabinet 24. FIG 2 clarifies the arrangement of the gap 22 upon the side frame 20 of the drawer panel 10. The gaps 22 have aesthetic purposes.

[0021] FIG 3 illustrates a rear view of the drawer panel 10 with a partially inserted support element 12 according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. The elongated support element 12 is diagonally arranged between the upper bending 16 and the lower bending 18 of the drawer panel 10.

[0022] A pair of support elements 12 is provided for the fixation of the drawer panel 10 at a drawer box 14. Further, the support element 12 assures the correct closing position for keeping an alignment between the drawer panel 10 and a neighboured device like another drawer panel, a door glass or a door panel. Additionally, the support element 12 covers the corresponding gap 22, which is aesthetically advantageous.

[0023] The fixation of the support element 12 at the drawer panel 10 is a simple operation. At first, the support element 12 has to be diagonally inserted between the upper bending 16 and the lower bending 18 of the drawer panel 10 as shown in FIG 3. Then, the support element 12 has to be rotated and pushed towards the corresponding side frame 20 of the door panel 10, so that the support element 12 is aligned with said side frame 20.

[0024] FIG 4 illustrates a rear view of the drawer panel 10 with the completely inserted support element 12 according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention.

[0025] FIG 4 shows the support element 12, when it is fixed at the drawer panel 10. In this state, the support element 12 is on a vertical position. The other support element 12 is fixed in the same way besides the other side frame 20 of the drawer panel 10. The pair of support elements 12 can be fixed at the drawer panel 10 without any fixation elements.

[0026] FIG 5 illustrates a rear view of the support element 12 according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. The support element 12 is made of plastics. FIG 5 clarifies the structure of the support element 12.

[0027] At its lower end portion the support element 12 comprises a pin element 26. Said pin element 26 forms a snap-in mechanism with a narrow side of the lower bending 16, so that a movement of the support element 12 relative to the drawer panel 10 is prevented, At its central portion the support element 12 comprises a pad 28 in order to assure the alignment of the drawer box 14. FIG 6 illustrates a perspective rear view of the drawer according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. The drawer includes the drawer panel 10 and the drawer box 14. The drawer panel 10 is connected to the drawer box 14 via the pair of support elements 12. FIG 6 shows schematically the rough structure of the drawer.

[0028] The drawer box 14 comprises a bottom wall 30, two side walls 32 and a rear wall 34. The bottom wall 30, the side walls 32 and the rear wall 34 are made of metal sheets. The side walls 32 and the rear wall 34 comprise a flange 36 at their top edge in each case. The flanges 36 of the side walls 32 and the rear wall 34 are directed outwardly.

[0029] In the front portions of each side wall 32 two screws 38 fix the drawer box 14 at the support elements 12. Said screws 38 penetrate through the side walls 32 of the drawer box 14 and into the support elements 12. Thus, four screws 38 are the only fixation elements in order to connect the drawer panel 10 to the drawer box 14.

[0030] FIG 7 illustrates a detailed perspective rear view of a front corner of the drawer according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. The drawer panel 10 is connected to the drawer box 14 via the pair of support elements 12. For reasons of clarity only the side wall 32 of the drawer box 14 is shown in FIG 7.

[0031] The screws 38 penetrate through the side walls 32 of the drawer box 14 and into the support elements 12. The pin element 26 forms the snap-in mechanism with the narrow side of the lower bending 16 in order to prevent a movement of the support element 12 relative to the drawer panel 10.

[0032] The support element 12 comprises two tampions in order to facilitate the assembly of the drawer box 14 at said support elements 12. The tampions assure the correct position of the drawer box 14 at the support element 12 before the fixation. Further, the tampions allow that holes 40 in drawer box 14 and corresponding holes in the support element 12 for the screws 38 are arranged concentrically in each case. This facilitates the insertion of the screws 38.

[0033] FIG 8 illustrates a perspective rear view of the drawer box 14 for the drawer according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. The drawer box 14 is made of one or more metal sheets and comprises the bottom wall 30, the side walls 32 and the rear wall 34. The side walls 32 and the rear wall 34 comprise the flange 36 at their top edge in each case. A front portion of the side walls 32 comprises two holes 40 in each case. The holes 40 are provided for receiving the screws 38 in order to connect the drawer box 14 to the pair of support elements 12.

[0034] Although illustrative embodiments of the present invention have been described herein with reference to the accompanying drawings, it is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to those precise embodiments, and that various other changes and modifications may be affected therein by one skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention. All such changes and modifications are intended to be included within the scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
