Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a rack wherein the items to be washed are placed.

[0002] Racks are used in dishwashers for placing the items to be washed into the machine. These racks are generally disposed in the machine as two units, at the top and the bottom. The racks used in the bottom stand over the base of the washing chamber when the door of the machine is in closed position. The rack moves forward over the door that stands parallel to the horizontal axis as the racks are pulled to the front for placing the dishes for washing or unloading afterwards. When pulled forwards quickly, the lower rack can fall to the floor by being detached completely from the washing chamber and the items placed therein are damaged.

[0003] In the state of the art United States Patent Document No. US20090151758, the description is given for an additional stopper member that is disposed on two front wheels that provides the rack to stop as moving over the door, preventing it from falling down and a preventive member disposed on the door.

[0004] In the state of the art German Patent Document No. DE8506735, the description is given for the front and rear wheels having different radii and a stopper member disposed on the side wall.

[0005] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher, the lower rack of which wherein the items to be washed are placed is moved safely.

[0006] The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a washing chamber wherein the washing process is performed, at least one stopper disposed on the base, extending from the base into the washing chamber, at least one connection member providing the rear wheel to be pivotally mounted to the rack, providing the rack to stop when the rack is pulled outwards from the washing chamber by bearing against the stopper and preventing the rack from entirely going out of the washing chamber.

[0007] The connection member comprises a body, a shaft disposed on the body, that goes through the hub of the wheel, providing the rear wheel to rotate around its axis and at least one extension, extending towards the base from the level of the shaft, moving forwards or backwards on the direction wherein the stopper is disposed, providing the rack to stop by bearing against the stopper.

[0008] The stopper extends from the base towards into the washing chamber in the movement direction of the connection member and in close proximity to the door. The rack is prevented from completely leaving the washing chamber and being detached from the dishwasher by means of the stopper. The movement of the extension in the direction of the door stops by bearing against the stopper rising from the base. The extension remains on the rack since the body whereon it is disposed is connected to the rack.

[0009] The stopper is disposed on the movement direction of the extension inside the washing chamber. The rack stops the moment the extension contacts the stopper.

[0010] The connection member comprises a locking element and a housing providing the body to be mounted to the rack.

[0011] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a plate, disposed in vertical direction to the movement direction of the rack, extending from the base towards into the washing chamber in the vicinity of the door and providing the rack to stop upon bearing of the connection member.

[0012] The stopper furthermore comprises a first upright member, extending from the point the rail ends towards the plate, parallel to the movement direction of the rack and a second upright member extending from the base towards the washing chamber, parallel to the movement direction of the rack and supporting the plate. The plate and the side wall of the washing chamber stand vertical or with an inclined angle with respect to one another. The plate is supported from the side by means of the first upright member and from the rear by means of the second upright member.

[0013] In an embodiment of the present invention, the rear wheel connection member comprises an extension that extends lower than the lowermost level of the rear wheel.

[0014] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a stopper that extends from the base to a level above the rail and an extension, bearing against this stopper and that extends from the body so as to remain above the lowermost level of the rear wheel.

[0015] A dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

[0017] The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises a washing chamber (2) having a base (3) and two side walls (5), wherein the washing process is performed, a door (7) providing access into the washing chamber (2), a rack (4) wherein items to be washed are placed and having wires (6) surrounding it, two rails (8) disposed oppositely on the base (3) and parallel to the side wall (5), at least two front wheels (9), mounted to the front side of the rack (4), seated on the rails (8), providing the rack (4) to be placed into and taken out from the washing chamber (2) by moving forwards and backwards in the rails (8), at least two rear wheels (10), mounted to the rear side of the rack (4), seated on the rails (8), providing the rack (4) to be placed into and taken out from the washing chamber (2) by moving forwards and backwards in the rails (8), at least one stopper (11) disposed on the base (3), extending from the base (3) towards into the washing chamber (2), at least one connection member (12), providing the rear wheel (10) to be pivotally mounted to the rack (4) and providing the rack (4) to stop and preventing the entire rack (4) from leaving the washing chamber (2) by contacting the stopper (11) (Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3).

[0018] The rack (4) is pulled by the user when desired to be taken out from the washing chamber (2) for loading or unloading and in the meantime the front wheel (9) and the rear wheel (10) move on the rail (8) and the rack (4) moves forward toward unto the door (7). While the front wheel (9) and the rear wheel (10) move in parallel direction to the stopper (11), the connection member (12) and the stopper (11) move forwards or backwards, connected with the rack (4) in the direction it is located on the base (3). The front wheel (9) continues its motion by going over the stopper (11). When the connection member (12) is opposite the stopper (11), it bears against the stopper (11) and respectively the movement of the rack (4) stops. The rack (4) leaves the washing chamber (2) only up to the level where the connection member (12) coincides with the stopper (11). Thus, the rack (4), when pulled outwards from the washing chamber (2), stops at the place where the connection member (12) bears against the stopper (11). And the rack (4) is prevented from leaving the dishwasher (1) (Figure 3).

[0019] The connection member (12) comprises a body (14), a shaft (13) disposed on the body (14), going through the hub of the rear wheel (10), providing the rear wheel (10) to rotate around its axis and at least one extension (15) extending from the level of the shaft (13) towards the base (3). The body (14) is connected to the rear wheel (10) by means of the shaft (13) that passes therethrough. The body (14) moves in parallel direction to the movement of the rear wheel (10) on the rail (8) when the user moves the rack (4). The extension (15) disposed on the body (14) moves in parallel direction to the movement direction of the rear wheel (10) while the rack (4) is taken out from the washing chamber (2) (Figure 5, Figure 6, Figure 7).

[0020] The stopper (11) extends from the base (3) towards inside the washing chamber (2), being close to the door (7) and in the movement direction of the connection member (12). The rack (4) is prevented to completely leave the washing chamber (2) by the connection member (12) bearing against the stopper (11) when the rack (4) is pulled outwards from the washing chamber (2) (Figure 8).

[0021] The stopper (11) is disposed on the movement direction of the extension (15) inside the washing chamber (2). The rack (4) stops the moment the extension (15) bears against the stopper (11).

[0022] The connection member (12) comprises a locking element (16) and a housing (17) providing the body (14) to be mounted to the rack (4) (Figure 5). The connection member (12) is secured to the rack (4) when the wires (6) are seated in the housing (17) disposed on the body (14).

[0023] In an embodiment of the present invention, the stopper (11) comprises a plate (18), disposed in vertical direction to the movement direction of the rack (4), extending from the base (3) towards into the washing chamber (2) in the vicinity of the door (7) and providing the rack (4) to stop by bearing of the connection member (12).

[0024] The stopper (11) furthermore comprises a first upright member (19) extending from the point the rail (8) ends towards the plate (18), parallel to the movement direction of the rack (4), supporting the plate (18) and a second upright member (20) extending from the base (3) towards the washing chamber (2), vertical to the movement direction of the rack (4) and supporting the plate (18). The resistance of the plate (18) is increased by being supported from the side with the first upright member (19) and from the rear with the second upright member (20) during impacting with the connection member (12) (Figure 8, Figure 9).

[0025] In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member (12) comprises an extension (15) extending downwards from the lowermost point of the rear wheel (10). The rack (4) stops due to the extension (15) bearing against the stopper (11) when the connection member (12) is opposite the stopper (11) during the outwards movement of the rack (4) from the washing chamber (2).

[0026] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a stopper (11) that extends from the base (3) up to above the rail (8) and an extension (15), bearing against this stopper (11) and that extends from the body (14) so as to remain above the lowermost level of the rear wheel (10). The front wheel (9) does not lock with the stopper (11) during movement of the rack (4) since the movement directions of the front wheel (9) and the stopper (11) are not the same. The connection member (12) and the stopper (11) move in the same direction. The rack (4) stops by means of the stopper (11) and the extension (15) coming opposite to each other during the movement of the rack (4).

[0027] By means of the present invention, the rack (4) is prevented from completely leaving the dishwasher (1). The stopper (11), disposed at the point inside the washing chamber (2) where the rack (4) is desired to stop, and the extension (15) impact one another and the movement of the rack (4) is stopped.

[0028] It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited by the embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.
