    Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a rack element for sports footwear.

[0002] Rack elements for sports footwear are known consisting of a plate provided with a hole for connection to one side of the vamp and having its upper surface provided with a plurality of teeth for selective engagement by a ring connected to a puller pivoted to a lever arm connected to the other side of the vamp.

    [0003] Such rack elements are known from EP 1 859 699 A1.

[0004] However these known rack elements have the drawback of unreliable adjustment of the degree of tensioning between the two sides of the vamp, which is related to the distance between the teeth cavities.

[0005] The object of the invention is to eliminate this drawback by providing a rack element in which a micrometric adjustment can be achieved in a simple and comfortable manner.

[0006] This object is achieved according to the invention by a rack element for sports footwear as described in claim 1.

[0007] The present invention is further clarified hereinafter in the form of a preferred embodiment thereof described by way of non-limiting example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a rack element according to the invention applied to a ski boot,

Figure 2 is an exploded perspective view thereof,

Figures 3 and 4 show it in perspective assembled view in its two end-of-travel conditions,

Figures 5, 6, 7 and 8 show it in perspective view during operation, and

Figures 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 show it in schematic lateral view during operation.

[0008] As can be seen from the figures, the rack element according to the invention consists of a base 2 preferably of carbon steel and obtained by pressing, provided with a hole 4 for engagement by a rivet for its connection to one side of the vamp 6 of the boot 8.

[0009] The base 2 is provided with two longitudinal parallel slots 10 in which the arms 12 of a fork 14 engage from below.

[0010] The arms 12 are provided with a hole 16 for insertion of a rivet 18 which engages in a hole 20 present in a rack element portion 22 provided with a plurality of teeth 24 having a distance between axes of 6-7 mm.

[0011] The lower surface of the base 2 is provided with toothing 26, the teeth of which have a distance between axes of between 2 and 3 mm.

[0012] The base 28 of the fork is provided with a pawl 30 selectively engagable in one of the teeth of the toothing 26.

[0013] The two outer lateral surfaces of the arms 12 of the fork 14 are provided with two pegs 32 bearing against the upper surface of the base.

[0014] A coil spring 34 is disposed about the rivet 18, and in the absence of external stresses maintains the rack element 22 urged against the base and maintains the pawl 30 engaged with one of the teeth of the toothing 26.

[0015] The hole 20 of the rack element has its axis at a distance a from the rear edge of the rack element which is less than the distance b from its lower surface, so as to assume an eccentric configuration.

[0016] To adjust the rack element, the user rotates the rack element 24 while at the same time pressing it downwards. As a result of the resting of the pegs 32 on the upper surface of the base 2 and the eccentric form of the hole 20, the pawl 30 rotates and is released from the tooth of the toothing 26, enabling the fork 14 to slide along the two slots 10. On termination of this operation the user releases the rack element which, pulled back by the action of the spring 34, becomes again positioned facing the base, with the pawl of the fork 14 engaged in another tooth of the toothing 26 of the base 2.

[0017] From the aforegoing it is apparent that the rack element according to the invention presents a wide range of adjustment with regard to both micro-adjustment and macro-adjustment.

    Claims

    1. For sports footwear, a rack element connected to one side of the vamp of an article of footwear and engagable by a ring connected to a pull lever connected to the other side of the vamp, the rack comprising:

    - a fork (14) which embraces said base from below and having its arms (12) provided with holes (16) for engagement by a pivot pin (18) on which there is also pivoted a rack element (22) provided with at least one tooth (24) for engagement by the ring, the axis of the hole (20) of the rack element (22) having a distance (a) from its rear edge which is less than the distance (b) from its lower surface, the base (28) of the fork (14) being provided with a pawl (30) selectively engagable in one of the teeth of the toothing (26) of the base (2), said pawl having a depth not greater than the difference between the distances (a) and (b), the lateral surfaces of the arms (12) of the fork (14) being provided with pegs (32) interacting with the upper surface of the base (2) and forming pivotal axles for the fork (14) during the operation of the rack element (22),

    - a spring (34) disposed about said pin (18) and which, in the absence of external stresses, maintains said tooth (24) engaged in the toothing (26) and maintains said rack element (22) urged against said base (2).

    2. A rack element as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the base (2) is provided with two longitudinal slots (10) along which the arms (12) of the fork (14) slide.
