BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
[0001] The invention relates to bottle caps and more particularly to a hinged bottle cap.
2. Description of Related Art
[0002] Liquid or the like can be stored in a bottle for drink or other purposes. A conventional
bottle is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 and includes a reservoir 91 and a cap 92 releasably
mounted on a neck. However, the cap 92 may be lost after being removed out of the
reservoir 91 this is because the cap 92 is a separate component.
[0003] Thus, the need for providing a hinged bottle cap exists.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0004] It is therefore one object of the invention to provide a bottle comprising a reservoir
including a neck having a base and external threads; a retaining ring mounted on the
base and including a recess; a cap including internal threads configured to secure
to the external threads; a hinge interconnecting the retaining ring and the cap; and
a stop member extending from the cap to dispose in the recess when the bottle is closed.
[0005] The above and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become
apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0006]
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional bottle;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the bottle with the cap removed from the bottle;
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a bottle according to the invention;
FIG. 4 is a side elevation of the bottle of FIG. 3; and
FIG. 5 is a view similar to FIG. 3 with the bottle being open by pivoting the cap
about a hinge.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0007] Referring to FIGS. 3 to 5, a bottle 10 in accordance with the invention comprises
the following components as discussed in detail below.
[0008] A reservoir 20 is adapted to store a quantity of liquid. The reservoir 20 includes
a neck 21 having a base 221 and external threads 211 disposed from the base 221 to
a top of the neck 21. A cap 12 includes an annular inner wall 122, internal threads
121 formed on the inner wall 122 and adapted to secure to the external threads 211
when the bottle 10 is closed, and a top 123. A retaining ring 11 is fastened on the
base 221 and includes a recess 111. A hinge 13 includes a left arm 131 interconnecting
the retaining ring 11 and the cap 12, and a right arm 132 interconnecting the retaining
ring 11 and the cap 12. A stop member 14 is formed on a bottom of the cap 12 and extends
between the left arm 131 and the right arm 132. The stop member 14 is disposed in
the recess 111 when the bottle 10 is closed.
[0009] Opening of the bottle 10 is done by clockwise pivoting the cap 12 about the hinge
13. It is envisaged by the invention that the cap 12 is prevented from being lost
after removing from the neck 21.
[0010] While the invention has been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled
in the art will recognize that the invention can be practiced with modifications within
the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
1. A bottle (10) comprising:
a reservoir (20) for storing a quantity of liquid, the reservoir (20) including a
neck (21) having a base (221) and external threads (211);
a retaining ring (11) mounted on the base (221) and including a recess (111);
a cap (12) including internal threads (121) configured to secure to the external threads
(211);
a hinge (13) interconnecting the retaining ring (11) and the cap (12); and
a stop member (14) extending from the cap (12) to dispose in the recess (111) when
the bottle (10) is closed.
2. The bottle of claim 1, wherein the hinge (13) includes a left arm (131) interconnecting
the retaining ring (11) and the cap (12), and a right arm (132) interconnecting the
retaining ring (11) and the cap (12).
3. The bottle of claim 2, wherein the stop member (14) extends between the left arm (131)
and the right arm (132) prior to disposing in the recess (111).
