[0001] The present invention concerns a pallet formed of two plastic material half pallets,
to be assembled to each other in a face to face relationship by connecting means.
Such a pallet according to the preamble of claims 1 and 13 is known from
EP 2 628 686 A1. It is also related to a method for assembling such pallet.
[0002] The invention is more particularly but not exclusively related to the domain of beverage
transport and for instance the transport of bottle crates, packs of cans etc for breweries.
[0003] Pallets formed from an upper and a lower decks preferably of identical construction
so that both elements can be formed in a single mold, are known.
[0004] With such pallet, which involves two separate parts smaller than a complete pallet,
it is possible to use smaller injection machines.
[0005] Also, and in order to be sufficiently solid, such pallets need reliable connecting
parts between the two halves strong enough to avoid disconnection.
[0006] Another problem encountered with such plastic pallet is their destruction by the
forks of the lift trucks.
[0007] Most of the pallets are black or of a dark color. Especially when at night, the forklift
driver very often does not find immediately the holes of the pallet with the forks.
In fact approximately 1/3 of the pallets are destroyed by the handling and repetitive
hurts of such misled forks.
[0008] It is a main object of the present invention to provide an improved pallet formed
of two halves and a method to assemble such pallet in a way that the risk of such
destruction on the four sides of the pallet is greatly limited and/or eliminated.
[0009] This authorizes a possibility to avoid hurting the pallet for the fork lift driver,
while also providing the possibility to avoid changing the whole pallet, for example
in case only half of the pallet is damaged.
[0010] Therefore the entire pallet does not become obsolete.
[0011] Furthermore, with the invention, it will be possible to provide a pallet formed of
two half pallets injected in two different colors.
[0012] The two colors create a very clean separation of both halves, which renders the middle
of the pallet openings even more visible for the fork lift driver.
[0013] This leads again to less damages caused by the forks of the fork lift.
[0014] The present invention therefore authorizes a greater longitivity for the pallets
at a lower cost.
[0015] It will also be possible, for example, to use half pallet members in 100% recycled
material, without jeopardizing the strength and/or load supporting ability of the
pallet, for instance one half member being in recycled material and the other connected
to the recycled one being made from a virgin plastic material and/or in a stronger
material by adding, for example, glass fibers.
[0016] For these purposes, the invention mainly proposes a pallet according to claim 1.
Advantageously the tab is a small plate of little thickness (3 mm for instance) and
several millimetres of width and length i.e. between 1 and 4 cm by 4 cm to 8 cm, for
instance 2 cm x 6 cm.
[0017] The tabs being of a different contrasting colour than the colour of the pallet members
connecting means on which they are inserted are easily identified.
[0018] They may also be in different plastic material than the pallet, but could also be
of the same material which renders the plastic of the whole pallet more recyclable.
[0019] Also different colours for the tabs may be used in function of the client and/or
the domain of use of the pallets for the same client.
[0020] Advantageously the plate could be marked or injected with the logo and/or the name
of the client.
[0021] In another advantageous embodiment the different colours of the plate or tab is a
bright colour, for instance pink or yellow, for instance fluorescent, the half pallet
being of a darker colour.
[0022] Advantageously, the connecting means are formed by a plurality of support legs and
a plurality of corresponding hollow posts connected together via interlocking snap-fit
latches, said support legs and said hollow posts being integral with and projecting
from the inner side respectively of one or the other of said main panels, the distal
end parts of support legs being in abutment with said corresponding hollow posts by
corresponding intermediate rims when connected, each support leg comprising said hollow
slots on its external faces, the top periphery of said slots being in alignment with
the intermediate rim of said corresponding support legs, and the top periphery of
said tabs plates being in abutment with the corresponding hollow posts, blocking in
position said tab when the snap-fit latches are triggered.
[0023] In another advantageous embodiment, the connecting means comprise a male and a female
members, and the plates are inserted on both and at the interface between said members.

posts for blocking in position said plates.

relationship, corresponding to a first embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 is an enlarged view of a part of figure 1 showing a support leg, and its
corresponding tags before assembling.
Figure 3 shows the pallet in perspective formed by the upper deck and the lower deck
of figure 1, this time in normal position, with their plates after assembling.
Figure 4 is an enlarged view of a support leg and tabs according to another embodiment
of the invention.
Figure 5A to 5D are partial enlarged views in perspective showing the first steps
of the method of assembling according to an embodiment of the invention.
[0037] Figure 1 shows (upside down) a pallet 1 formed of two plastic half pallets, namely
a lower deck 2, and an upper deck 3 to be assembled to each other in face to face
relationship by interlocking snap-fit latches 5, 5' each of said half pallets members
comprising a rigid rectangular main panel 6, 7 having an inner side 8, 9 and an outer
side 10, 11.

delimitating three perpendicular sets of three beams comprising the connecting parts
with the other half pallet, situated for instance at each corners and in the middle
of each beam.

disposed on the support legs 12 which are for instance parallelepipedic, and more

rectangular main panel (6, 7) having an inner side (8, 9) and an outer side 10, 11),
to be assembled to each other in face to face relationship of their inner sides via
connecting parallelepipedic means (12, 13) defining apertures (41) between each other
for fork handling, characterized in that each connecting means comprises on its external faces a rectangular or trapezoidal
hollow slot (27) presenting lateral grooves (28), and a rectangular or trapezoidal
tab (30) in plastic material and in a contrasting colour with the half pallets, presenting
a complementary form to said hollow slot, inserted by being pushed into place, via
sliding movement and inamovably blocked within said grooves and said hollow slot,
said slot and said inserted tab being substantially centred so as to be arranged to
clearly signal one of the side and the level of said aperture (41), said tab presenting
an external surface (31) parallel or in recess from the external surface (31') of
said connecting means.
2. The pallet (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that the different colour of the tab is pink or yellow, and/or fluorescent, the half pallets
being of darker colours.
3. A pallet according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the connecting means are formed by a plurality of support legs (12) and a plurality
of corresponding hollow posts (13) connected together via interlocking snap-fit latches
(5, 5' ; 37), said support legs and said hollow posts being integral with and projecting
from the inner side respectively of one or the other of said main panels, the distal
end parts (21) of the support legs being in abutment with said corresponding hollow
posts by corresponding intermediate rims (25) when connected, each support leg comprising
said hollow slots (27) on its external faces, the top periphery (29) of said slot
being in alignment with the intermediate rim (25) of said support leg and the top
periphery (32) of said tab (30) being in abutment with the hollow post (13) blocking
in position said tab when the snap-fit latches are triggered.
4. The pallet according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that one of the peripheral edges of the tab is chamfered to facilitate its introduction
in the slot (27).
5. The pallet according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the protruding parts (5) are integral and disposed on the support legs (12) and the
holes are on the corresponding hollow posts.
6. The pallet according to claim 5, characterized in that the external face or part of said external face of said protruding parts has an angle
with the surface of said support legs for facilitating insertion of the tab (30),
and the holes are on corresponding hollow posts
7. The pallet according to any of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the protruding parts are integral and disposed on the inside face of the hollow posts
and the holes on corresponding support legs.
8. The pallet according to any of the precedent claims, characterized in that the protruding parts are of polygonal shapes.
9. The pallet according to any of the precedent claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the protruding parts (5) and the corresponding holes (5') are cylindrical.
10. The pallet according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the two half pallets (2, 3) are of different colours.
11. The pallet according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the two half pallets are easily separable with an adapted tool and in that the tabs are removable.
12. The pallet according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that surfaces of each of the main panels is a grating.
13. A method of assembling two half pallets for forming a pallet (1), each of said half
pallets comprising a rigid rectangular main panel (6, 7) having an inner face and
an outer face, a plurality of support legs (12) and a plurality of corresponding hollow
posts (13), said support legs and said hollow posts being integral with and projecting
from the inner side respectively of one or the other of said main panels, the distal
ends parts (21) of the support legs of one half pallet being arranged to be engaged
with the corresponding hollow posts of the other half pallet by snap-fit latches (5,
5'), and in abutment with each other by corresponding intermediate rims (25), characterised in that the support legs (12) comprising on their external faces a rectangular or trapezoidal
hollow slot (27) presenting lateral grooves (28), the top periphery (29) of said slot
being in alignment with the intermediate rim (25) of said support leg, a tab (30)
is inserted by being pushed into place by sliding movement within said grooves (28)
of said slot for presenting an external surface parallel or in recess from the external
surface of said support leg and for having its top periphery (32) in alignment with
the intermediate rim of said support leg,
and in that said half pallets (2, 3) are assembled by engaging the distal ends parts (21) of
the support legs of one half pallet with the corresponding hollow posts of the other
half pallet via said snap-fit latches (5, 5'; 37), said intermediate rims (25) of
the corresponding legs being driven in abutment with the corresponding hollow posts
(13), therefore blocking in position said tabs (30) when the snap-fit latches are
triggered.
1. Palette (1), ausgebildet aus zwei Kunststoff-Halbpaletten (2, 3), welche jeweils eine
starre rechteckige Basisplatte (6, 7) mit einer Innenseite (8, 9) und einer Außenseite

Hohlschlitz (27) aufweist, der seitliche Nuten (28) und eine rechteckige oder trapezförmige
Lasche (30) aus Kunststoffmaterial und in Kontrastfarbe zu den Halbpaletten aufweist,
- dabei anwendend eine Komplementärform, einfügbar, indem sie mittels Gleitbewegung
in Position geschoben und unbeweglich in den Nuten und dem Hohlschlitz blockiert wird,
- wobei der Hohlschlitz und die eingesetzte Lasche im Wesentlichen so zentriert angeordnet
sind, dass sie deutlich von der Seite und dem Niveau der Öffnung (41) anzeigen, wenn
die Lasche eine äußere Oberfläche (31) parallel oder in einer Vertiefung von der äußeren
Oberfläche (31') der Verbindungsmittel aufweist.
2. Palette (1) nach Anspruch 1,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die unterschiedliche Farbe der Lasche pink oder gelb und/oder fluoreszierend ist,
wobei die Halbpaletten dunklere Farben aufweisen.
3. Palette nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die Verbindungsmittel aus einer Mehrzahl von Stützbeinen (12) und einer Mehrzahl
von entsprechenden hohlen Pfosten (13) gebildet sind, die miteinander über ineinander
greifende Schnappverschlüsse (5, 5', 37) verbunden sind.
- wobei die Stützbeine und die hohlen Pfosten in die Innenseite der einen oder der
anderen der Basisplatten integriert sind und von dieser hervorstehen,
- wobei die distalen Endteile (21) der Stützbeine angepasst sind an die entsprechenden
hohlen Pfosten durch entsprechende Zwischenränder (25), wenn sie miteinander verbunden
sind,
- wobei jedes Stützbein Hohlschlitze (27) an seinen Außenflächen aufweist,
- wobei der obere Rand (29) des Schlitzes mit dem Zwischenrand (25) des Stützbeins
und der obere Rand (32) der Lasche (30) an den hohlen Pfosten (13) angepasst sind,
der die Lasche in ihrer Position blockiert, wenn die Schnappverschlüsse ausgelöst
werden.
4. Palette nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass eine der Randkanten der Lasche abgeschrägt ist, um ihr Einführen in den Schlitz (27)
zu erleichtern.
5. Palette nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die vorstehenden Teile (5) integral auf den Stützbeinen (12) angeordnet sind und
die Löcher sich auf den entsprechenden hohlen Pfosten befinden.
6. Palette nach Anspruch 5,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die Außenfläche oder ein Teil der Außenfläche der vorstehenden Teile zum Erleichtern
des Einsetzens der Lasche (30) einen Winkel mit der Oberfläche der Stützbeine bilden,
und sich die Löcher auf einem entsprechenden hohlen Pfosten befinden.
7. Palette nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die vorstehenden Teile integral an der Innenseite der hohlen Pfosten und die Löcher
an den entsprechenden Stützbeinen angeordnet sind.
8. Palette nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die vorstehenden Teile polygonale Formen aufweisen.
9. Palette nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche 1 bis 7,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die vorstehenden Teile (5) und die entsprechenden Löcher (5') zylindrisch sind.
10. Palette nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die zwei Halbpaletten (2, 3) unterschiedliche Farben aufweisen.
11. Palette nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die zwei Halbpaletten mit einem angepassten Werkzeug leicht trennbar sind, und
dass die Laschen abnehmbar sind.
12. Palette nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die Oberflächen jeder der Basisplatten als ein Gitter ausgebildet sind.
13. Verfahren zur Montage einer Palette (1) aus zwei Halbpaletten
- wobei jede der Halbpaletten eine starre rechteckige Basisplatte (6, 7) mit einer
Innenfläche und einer Außenfläche, mehreren Stützbeinen (12) und einer Mehrzahl von
entsprechenden hohlen Pfosten (13) aufweist,
- wobei die Stützbeine und die hohlen Pfosten integral auf der inneren Seite der einen
oder der anderen der Basisplatten angeordnet sind und auf diesen hervorstehen, und
- wobei die distalen Endteile (21) der Stützbeine der einen Halbpalette hinsichtlich
der entsprechenden hohlen Pfosten der anderen Halbpalette angeordnet sind, durch die
Schnappverschlüsse (5, 5 ') in Eingriff stehen und mittels der entsprechenden Zwischenränder
(25) aneinander anliegen,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die Stützbeine (12) an ihren Außenflächen einen rechtwinkligen oder trapezförmigen
hohlen Schlitz (27) mit seitlichen Nuten (28) aufweisen,
- wobei der obere Rand (29) des Schlitzes passend zum Zwischenrand (25) des Stützbeins
ausgerichtet ist,
- wobei innerhalb der seitlichen Nuten (28) eine Lasche (30) eingefügt ist zum Bereitstellen
einer äußeren Oberfläche parallel oder in einem Winkel zur äußeren Oberfläche des
Stützbeins und für den Erhalt seines oberen Randes (32) in Ausrichtung mit dem Zwischenrand
des Stützbeins, und
dass die Halbpaletten (2, 3) durch Verbinden der distalen Enden (21) der Stützbeine der
einen Halbpalette mit den entsprechenden hohlen Pfosten der anderen Halbpalette mittels
der Schnappverschlüsse (5, 5'; 37) montiert werden,
- wobei die Zwischenränder (25) der entsprechenden Stützbeine in das Widerlager mit
den entsprechenden hohlen Pfosten (13) bewegt werden und dadurch die Laschen (30)
in ihrer Position blockieren, wenn die Schnappverschlüsse ausgelöst werden.
1. Palette (1) formée de deux moitiés de palette en matière plastique (2, 3), dotées
chacune d'un panneau principal rectangulaire rigide (6,7) ayant un côté interne (8,
9) et un côté externe (10, 11), destinées à être assemblées l'une à l'autre dans une

ou trapézoïdale (27) présentant des rainures latérales (28), et une languette rectangulaire
ou trapézoïdale (30) en matière plastique et d'une couleur différente de celle des
moitiés de palette, présentant une forme complémentaire de celle de ladite fente creuse,
insérée en étant enfoncée en place, par un mouvement de glissement et bloquée de manière
inamovible à l'intérieur desdites rainures et de ladite fente creuse, ladite fente
et ladite languette insérée étant sensiblement centrées de manière à être agencées
pour signaler clairement l'un du côté et du niveau de ladite ouverture (41), ladite
languette présentant une surface externe (31) parallèle ou en retrait par rapport
à la surface externe (31') dudit moyen de liaison.
2. Palette (1) selon la revendication 1, caractérisée en ce que la couleur différente de la languette est rose ou jaune, et/ou fluorescente, les
moitiés de palette étant de couleur plus foncée.
3. Palette selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que les moyens de liaison sont formés d'une pluralité de pattes de support (12) et d'une
pluralité de montants creux correspondants (13) liés les uns aux autres par l'intermédiaire
de loquets de verrouillage encliquetables (5, 5' ; 37), lesdites pattes de support
et lesdits montants creux étant solidaires et faisant saillie respectivement depuis
le côté interne de l'un ou de l'autre desdits panneaux principaux, les parties formant
extrémité distale (21) des pattes de support étant en butée avec lesdits montants
creux correspondants par le biais de rebords intermédiaires correspondants (25) lorsqu'ils
sont reliés, chaque patte de support comprenant lesdites fentes creuses (27) sur ses
faces externes, la périphérie supérieure (29) de ladite fente étant en alignement
avec le rebord intermédiaire (25) de ladite patte de support et la périphérie supérieure
(32) de ladite languette (30) étant en butée avec le montant creux (13), bloquant
en position ladite languette lorsque les loquets encliquetables sont enclenchés.
4. Palette selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que l'un des bords périphériques de la languette est chanfreiné pour faciliter son introduction
dans la fente (27).
5. Palette selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que les parties en saillie (5) sont solidaires des pattes de support (12) et disposées
sur celles-ci et les trous sont sur les montants creux correspondants.
6. Palette selon la revendication 5, caractérisée en ce que la face externe ou une partie de ladite face externe desdites parties en saillie
forme un angle avec la surface desdites pattes de support pour faciliter l'insertion
de la languette (30), et les trous sont sur des montants creux correspondants.
7. Palette selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 4, caractérisée en ce que les parties en saillie sont solidaires des montants creux et disposées sur leur face
intérieure, et les trous sur des pattes de support correspondantes.
8. Palette selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que les parties en saillie sont de forme polygonale.
9. Palette selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 7 précédentes, caractérisée en ce que les parties en saillie (5) et les trous correspondants (5') sont cylindriques.
10. Palette selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que les deux moitiés de palette (2, 3) sont de couleur différente.
11. Palette selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que les deux moitiés de palette sont aisément séparables avec un outil adapté et en ce que les languettes sont amovibles.
12. Palette selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisée en ce que la surface de chacun des panneaux principaux est une grille.
13. Procédé d'assemblage de deux moitiés de palette pour former une palette (1), chacune
desdites moitiés de palette comprenant un panneau principal rectangulaire rigide (6,7)
ayant une face interne et une face externe, une pluralité de pattes de support (12)
et une pluralité de montants creux correspondants (13), lesdites pattes de support
et lesdits montants creux étant solidaires et en saillie respectivement depuis le
côté interne de l'un ou de l'autre desdits panneaux principaux, les parties formant
extrémité distale (21) des pattes de support d'une moitié de palette étant agencées
de manière à venir en prise avec les montants creux correspondants de l'autre moitié
de palette par le biais de loquets de verrouillage encliquetables (5, 5'), et en butée
les unes avec les autres par le biais de rebords intermédiaires correspondants (25),
caractérisée en ce que les pattes de support (12) comprennent sur leurs faces externes une fente creuse
rectangulaire ou trapézoïdale (27) présentant des rainures latérales (28), la périphérie
supérieure (29) de ladite fente étant en alignement avec le rebord intermédiaire (25)
de ladite patte de support, une languette (30) est insérée en étant enfoncée en place
par un mouvement de glissement à l'intérieur desdites rainures (28) de ladite fente
pour présenter une surface externe parallèle ou en retrait par rapport à la surface
externe de ladite patte de support et pour avoir sa périphérie supérieure (32) en
alignement avec le rebord intermédiaire de ladite patte de support,
et en ce que lesdites moitiés de palette (2, 3) sont assemblées par mise en prise des parties
formant extrémité distale (21) des pattes de support d'une moitié de palette avec
les montants creux correspondants de l'autre moitié de palette par l'intermédiaire
desdits loquets encliquetables (5, 5' ; 37), lesdits rebords intermédiaires (25) des
pattes correspondantes étant amenés en butée avec les montants creux correspondants
(13), bloquant ainsi en position lesdites languettes (30) lorsque les loquets encliquetables
sont enclenchés.
