(54) LAMINAR SUPPORT FOR AN EDIBLE PRODUCT

(57) The laminar support (1) comprises a base (3) and a side enveloping structure formed by two opposing walls (4A) and a central wall (5) in which the two opposing walls (4A) converge, such that the edible product (2), such as a cake, for example, is placed on the base (3) of the laminar support (1). While consuming the edible product (2), the user has complete stability and comfort in holding the laminar support (1) with a single hand, and a stable support of the edible product (2) on the base (3) of the laminar support (1) is also achieved as a result of the strength and stiffness provided by the side enveloping structure.

Description

Object of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to a laminar support for an edible product comprising a base and a side enveloping structure formed by two opposing walls and a central wall in which the two opposing walls converge, such that the edible product, such as a cake, for example, is placed on the base of the laminar support. While consuming the edible product, the user has complete stability and comfort in holding the laminar support with a single hand, and a stable support of the edible product on the base of the laminar support is also achieved as a result of the strength and stiffness provided by the side enveloping structure.

Technical problem to be resolved and background of the invention

[0002] Laminar supports for edible products are known today, fundamentally manufactured from cardboard, generally comprising a base and two side walls, such that while consuming an edible product supported on the base of the laminar support, a user holds the laminar support with his hand, holding it by base and the two side walls.

[0003] The side walls of the laminar support are joined to the base by means of fold lines, although said side walls are not joined or linked to one another, such that this described configuration of the laminar support is unstable and uncomfortable for holding the laminar support with a hand, and the support of the edible product on the base of the laminar support is also unstable. These drawbacks force the user to have to use both hands to correctly hold the laminar support while consuming the food product.

Description of the invention

[0004] For the purpose of achieving objectives and avoiding the drawbacks mentioned in the preceding sections, the invention proposes a laminar support for an edible product comprising a base and a side enveloping structure surrounding a continuous part of the contour of said base; where said side enveloping structure comprises two opposing walls: first opposing wall and second opposing wall, and a central wall in which the two opposing walls converge.

[0005] The central wall comprises at least a first collateral flap and a second collateral flap which are arranged on overlapping planes.

[0006] The two opposing walls are joined to the base through a first fold line and a second fold line; whereas the collateral flaps of the central wall are joined to the opposing walls by means of other fold lines.

[0007] The first collateral flap includes a slot in which a tab that is part of the second collateral flap fits, such that the assembly of the laminar support of the invention is secured by means of said tab.

[0008] The slot of the first collateral flap is located in an area adjacent to the fold line joining the first collateral flap and the first opposing wall.

[0009] The tab of the second collateral flap comprises a corner portion with an acute angle which is configured for engaging an edge demarcating an end of the slot located in the first collateral flap.

[0010] The central wall further comprises a main flap arranged on a plane parallel to the planes on which the first collateral flap and the second collateral flap are located; where said main flap is joined to the base by means of a central fold line.

[0011] The first collateral flap and the second collateral flap, as well as the main flap, comprise triangular configurations.

[0012] Each of the two opposing walls comprises a triangular configuration; where an outer side of said triangular configuration is defined by two convex curved portions.

[0013] Next, to help better understand this specification and as an integral part thereof, a series of figures is attached in which the object of the invention is depicted in an illustrative and non-limiting manner.

Brief description of the figures

[0014]

Figure 1 shows a top perspective view of the laminar support for an edible product, object of the invention. The edible product supported on a base of the laminar support of the invention is also shown.

Figure 2 shows another perspective view of the laminar support of the invention.

Figure 3 shows a view of a perforated laminar body from which the laminar support of the invention is obtained.

Description of an embodiment of the invention

[0015] Considering the numbering used in the figures, the laminar support 1 for an edible product 2 comprises a base 3 and a side enveloping structure surrounding a continuous part of the contour of said base 3; where said side enveloping structure comprises two opposing walls: first opposing wall 4a and second opposing wall 4b, and a central wall 5 in which the two opposing walls 4a, 4b converge.

[0016] The central wall 5 comprises a main flap 5c, a first collateral flap 5a and a second collateral flap 5b, where the first collateral flap 5a includes a slot 6 in which a tab 7 that is part of the second collateral flap 5b fits and is engaged; all this is to secure the assembly of the side enveloping structure and of the laminar support 1 of the invention in general.

[0017] The three flaps 5a, 5b, 5c configuring the central wall 5 in principle comprise a triangular shape, as occurs with the two opposing walls 4a, 4b.

[0018] The main flap 5c of the central wall 5 is joined to the base 3 by means of a central fold line 8 which corresponds with one of the three sides of said triangular-shaped main flap 5c.

[0019] In contrast, the other two sides of the triangular-shaped main flap 5c are adjacent to respective similar sides of the first collateral flap 5a and of the second collateral flap 5b when the laminar support is in the unfolded position forming a flat laminar body, as shown in Figure 3.

[0020] The two opposing walls, first opposing wall 4a and second opposing wall 4b, are joined to the base 3 by means of fold lines: first fold line 9a and second fold line 9b corresponding with one of the sides of the triangular configuration of said opposing walls 4a, 4b. In turn, the two collateral walls 4a, 4b are joined to the two collateral flaps, first collateral flap 5a and second collateral flap 5b, by means of other fold lines 10a, 10b which correspond with pairs of common sides of said opposing walls 4a, 4b and of the collateral flaps 5a, 5b.

[0021] An outer side of each of the two opposing walls, first opposing wall 4a and second opposing wall 4b, is defined by two convex curved portions 11.

[0022] On the other hand, the tab 7 is located in correspondence with a side of the second triangular shaped collateral flap 5b, whereas the slot 6 in which said tab 7 is fitted is located in an area adjacent to the fold line joining the first collateral flap 5a and the first opposing wall 4a.

[0023] The side of the second collateral flap 5b where the tab 7 is located comprises an angular cut 12 demarcating a corner portion 7a of said tab 7; where the corner portion 7a forms an acute angle; and where said corner portion 7a is configured for engaging an edge demarcating an end of the slot 6 located in the first collateral flap 5a.

[0024] In one embodiment of the invention, the first collateral flap 5a and the second collateral flap 5b, as well as the main flap 5c, comprise equilateral triangles, although they could comprise different ones other than equilateral triangles.

[0025] With this described arrangement, once the laminar support 1 of the invention is assembled the main flap 5c and the two collateral flaps 5a, 5b are arranged on overlapping planes, such that in a first embodiment of the invention the main flap is placed between the two collateral flaps 5a, 5b; in a second embodiment the main flap 5c is located outside the laminar support 1, and in a third embodiment of the invention the main flap 5c is located inside the laminar support 1; where this third embodiment is shown in Figures 1 and 2.

[0026] In a fourth embodiment of the invention, the main flap 5c could even be dispensed with, given that the laminar support is actually assembled by means of the tab 7 fitting in and engaging the slot 6 of the first collateral flap 5a.

[0027] The laminar support 1 is preferably obtained from a perforated laminar body made of cardboard, plastic or any other laminar material; it should be stressed that the laminar body can also be obtained by different means other than perforation.

[0028] Finally, the perimeter edge of the base can have a number of configurations, although in the figures it is shown to have a rounded configuration.
