Field of the invention
[0001] The invention relates to ventilation installations for premises, and, more precisely,
to sectional ventilation installations.
Background art
[0002] In modern buildings, especially buildings with large area, air movement and its quality
are controlled by the use of air handling units. Such air handling units usually have
inlet and outlet openings for air circulation through the components of the unit.
Components of the unit typically include components for circulation, filtration, humidification,
drying, heating, cooling and the like. Conventional air handling units have a frame
divided into sections, and inside the frame the components of the unit are housed.
The entire body of the unit comprises a plurality of insulating panels that separate
said components from environment. The unit may be also comprised of modules/sections,
each of them comprising a section body frame and insulating panels. In this case,
each module contains one air handling unit component for a specific air treatment
function. All sections are tightly interconnected to ensure that the air to be processed
moves between the sections through the devices contained therein. Air handling units
can be assembled from such sections at the place of use while being transported separately.
[0003] Only properly interconnected sections can ensure proper operation of air handling
units.
[0004] One example of a technological background is disclosed in a patent application No.
CN201711278359.5 (publication No.
CN 108131815). The application discloses a composite break cold soft and hard symbiotic sealing
profile and a frameless air-conditioner box. The composite break cold soft and hard
symbiotic sealing profile mainly comprises a hard PVC profile and a soft PVC profile,
a clamping groove is formed inside the hard PVC profile, and a triangular boss is
arranged at the lower portion of the hard PVC profile; the PVC profile is arranged
on the outer layer of the hard PVC profile, a cavity is formed inside the soft PVC
profile, and a floating point is arranged on the outer surface of the soft PVC profile.
The aluminum alloy profile comprises an aluminum alloy profile A, an aluminum alloy
profile B and an aluminum alloy profile C, and the upper portion of the aluminum alloy
profile is provided with the open clamping groove and the triangular boss which are
in rolling tight combination.
[0005] International patent application
PCT/IB2016/000362 describes an air handling unit that comprises a frame, a housing that comprises insulating
panels, and air treatment devices. The air handling unit is made up of sections, each
containing a separate air treatment device and wherein each section is connected to
another section via special connection means. However, due to its construction, such
connection cannot always ensure a sufficiently tight connection of the modules, i.e.
tightness of the flow tunnel for the air to be treated.
[0006] The insulation panels of air handling units and the method of joining them are described
in
international patent application No. PCT/US2016/021517. Panel of the air handling unit defines main axis that is perpendicular to its surface
and comprises at least two first sheets, each having at least two folded edges and
at least two second sheets, each having at least two folded edges. The sheets are
parallel to each other and perpendicular to the main axis of the panel. The panel
has at least one internal connecting element inserted between the first and the second
sheets in the main axis. Disadvantages of the described panel, its method of connection
to at least one other panel and ventilation installation comprising thereof are as
follows: complicated assembly of the installation, poor sound and heat insulation
properties.
[0007] In many cases, poor tightness of the door and the housing is the main cause of poor
thermal and acoustic insulation properties of air handling units. International patent
application No.
PCT/IB2016/000363 describes a door assembly of an air handling unit and air handling unit with such
door. This door assembly has a frame along the frame plane that includes at least
one frame beam defining the frame axis along the frame plane, wherein the frame beam
is elongated along the axis of the frame and has a fixed cross section along said
axis of the frame. The door is attached to the frame and can pivot between open position
and closed position. The door has at least one edge beam that is elongated along the
edge axis and has substantially invariable cross section. Main drawback of this design
is poor thermal insulation of the door body and of the contact area between the door
and the unit body. Present invention seeks to eliminate at least the aforementioned
disadvantages and to present additional advantages.
Short Description of the Invention
[0008] The invention relates to an air handling unit as defined in claim 1. Such an air
handling unit comprises frameless sections that include inner housing struts for mounting
at least one bottom, at least one top, at least one rear, at least one front and at
least one side insulating panels of each section of the housing of the air handling
unit. At least one front, at least one bottom, at least one top, at least one rear,
and at least one side insulating panels of the section comprises plastic multi-chamber
profiles, through which the folded outer and the inner metal sheets of panels are
being connected. The door of the air handling unit include a panel comprising folded
outer and inner metal sheets connected through multi-chamber plastic profiles. Said
profiles at their ends are connected using a thermal connection means. The door also
include gaskets that are molded on the profiles along perimeter of the door.
[0009] The multi-chamber plastic profiles are intended for joining folded outer and inner
metal sheets of insulating panels of the air handling unit sections by interlocking
without additional means.
[0010] The invention further relates to a method for assembling an air handling unit as
defined in claim 3. Such a method for assembling the air handling unit comprises assembling
each section of the unit separately, where the assembly of each section includes assembly
of a frame for mounting a section. The method further comprises assembly of at least
one bottom and at least one rear insulating panel, comprising inner and outer folded
metal sheets and plastic profiles, attaching of the at least one lower panel to the
mounting frame through plastic profiles of the panel and longitudinal folded metal
pieces contained therein, attaching of the at least one top panel to inner struts
through the plastic profiles of the panel and the longitudinal folded metal pieces
contained therein, attaching of the at least one rear panel to the inner struts through
the plastic profiles of the panel and the longitudinal folded metal pieces contained
therein, attaching of the at least one side panel to the inner struts of first and
last sections of the air handling unit, assembling and attaching the at least one
front panel to the inner struts, joining the plurality of the air handling unit sections
by connection means through the inner struts of section housings of the air handling
unit and through the mounting frames.

[0014] Air handling unit (Vi) according to one of the embodiments is shown in Fig. 1. The
air handling unit (Vi) comprises at least two air flow restriction and diverting sections
(S
FV1, S
FV2,) and one heat exchanger (S
s) section within which the corresponding equipment is mounted. Equipment such as a
fan, air filter or combinations thereof, water or electric heater, air supply or other
equipment and/or combination of all of the foregoing may be provided in each of the
air flow restriction and diverting sections. The heat exchanger section may be fitted
with a rotary heat exchanger, a plate opposite-flows heat exchanger, a heat pump,
a heat pump and rotary heat exchanger, or other devices with a similar function. The
sections (S
FV1, S
FV2, S
s) are locked together by screws (1) through sectional struts (2, 3). Each section
(S
FV1, S
FV2, S
R) is mounted on an individual mounting frame (4.1, 4.2, 4.3), which are interconnected
by screws (5) or other dismountable locking means. The first and the last sections
of the air handling unit are the air flow restriction and diverting sections, each
having at least one side panel with openings with flanges (6.1, 6.2) or with openings
with flaps (7.1, 7.2).
[0015] Fig. 2 shows an example of air flow restriction and diverting section (S
p) of the air handling unit. The section (S
p) comprises a bottom panel (8) on which the sectional equipment is mounted. The section
further comprises inner struts (9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4) which are normally mounted in
corners thereof. The inner struts (9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4) can be made of a such material
as galvanized steel or materials with similar or better mechanical properties. The
section (S
p) further comprises at least one top panel (10) where said bottom (8) and top (10)
panels are interconnected through inner struts (9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4) or inner struts
and additional elements such as frame structures (51). The section (S
p) further comprises at least one rear panel (11) which is secured to at least the
rear inner struts (9.3, 9.4) to said at least one bottom panel (8) and to said at
least one top panel (10) in such a way as to be in tight contact with the stepped
edge portions of the bottom and top panels. The section further comprises a front
panel (12, IS). The said at least one rear panel (11) of section (S
p) and side panels (6, 7) of the first and the last sections are attached to the inner
struts (9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4) of the housing of air handling unit by such means as plastic
plugs or other means having good heat insulation properties. The at least one bottom
(8), the at least one rear (11), the at least one top (10) and the at least one side
(6, 7) panels are connected by using sealants such as liquid sealants.
[0016] In such case when one section comprises more than one bottom, rear and top panels,
they are preferably equal in numbers.
[0017] Fig. 3 shows a panel (IS) of the air handling unit the structure of which is common
for the bottom (8), top (10), and rear (11) panels in all embodiments of the invention
and for the front panel in some embodiments of the invention. Said panel is comprised
of an outer folded metal sheet (13), a stone wool layer (14), an inner folded metal
sheet (15), lateral (16.1, 16.2), upper (16.3) and lower (16.4) profiles having essentially
similar construction and connecting said sheets. Each lateral plastic profile (16.1,
16.2) comprises a longitudinal folded metal piece (17.1, 17.2) being inserted in said
lateral plastic profiles (16.1, 16.2) for rigidity. The metal folded piece can additionally
be inserted into the upper and lower profiles (16.3, 16.4) for their rigidity. The
panel also comprises plastic corner parts (18.1, 18.2, 18.3, 18.4) for joining ends
of plastic profiles (16.1, 16.2, 16.3, 16.4) at all four corners of the panel and
transverse folded metal pieces (19.1, 19.2) which increase rigidity of the panel.
The outer folded metal sheet piece (13) may be made of such material as galvanized
steel or other materials having the same or better mechanical properties. The longitudinal
folded metal piece (17.1, 7.2) can be made of such material as galvanized steel or
other materials having the same or better mechanical properties. This longitudinal
folded piece is used to increase rigidity of a plastic profile and as a basis for
fastening components to the housing of the air handling unit by using self-tapping
screw fasteners. The plastic corner part (18.1, 18.2, 18.3, 18.4) has essentially
a right-angle shape both ends of which comprise extensions that substantially correspond
to the inner shape of chambers of the plastic profiles (16.1, 16.2, 16.3, 16.4) extending
over the entire length of the profiles and the corner part is force-fitted into them
in such a way as to interlock two plastic profiles (16.1, 16.2, 16.3, 16.4) at their
ends. One, preferably two, transverse metal folded pieces (19.1, 19.2) for increasing
rigidity of the panel are fixed to the lateral plastic profiles (16.1, 16.2) inside
the panel in such a way as to contact only with the inner folded metal sheet (15)
but not the outer folded metal sheet (13).
[0018] Fig. 4 shows the plastic profile (16', 16") of the bottom, the top, the rear and
the side panels of the air handling unit according to embodiments of the invention
and in some embodiments of the invention the front panel, structure of which is common
to all bottom, top, rear and side panel profiles in all embodiments of the invention
and in some cases to front panel profiles of the invention. Said plastic profile (16',
16") comprises one substantially flat side (25', 25"). The profile further comprises
one side (26', 26") in which at least two grooves (27', 28'; 27", 28") are formed
throughout the length of the profile. Each of the grooves (27', 28'; 27", 28") can
accommodate a step (29', 29") formed at the outer folded metal sheet (13', 13") edge.
One groove (27', 27") into which said formed step (29', 29") enters in the first place
secures the edge of the outer folded metal sheet (13', 13") to the side (26', 26")
of the plastic profile with two recesses in strain-fitting manner so that part of
the inner surface of the formed step abuts to the edge of one groove (27', 27") of
the plastic profile. This prevents from moving freely in the direction of removal
of the outer folded metal sheet (13', 13") from the plastic profile (16', 16"). Said
one groove (27', 27") is considered the first groove on the plastic profile (16',
16") and in the direction of mounting outer folded metal sheet (13', 13") has a sloping
edge (NB', NB") located on the opposite side of the groove edge limiting the movement
of the outer folded metal sheet (13', 13"). The second groove (28', 28") on the plastic
profile (16', 16") being formed behind the first groove (27', 27") in the direction
of mounting outer folded metal sheet (13', 13") includes an edge preventing the step
(29', 29") formed on the edge of the outer metal folded sheet (13', 13") from moving
in the direction of removal from the plastic profile (16', 16"). On the opposite side
of the second groove (28', 28") of said plastic profile a protrusion is formed which
substantially blocks further movement of the edge of the outer folded metal sheet
(13', 13") in the direction of mounting as the edge of the step (29', 29") abuts the
formed bulge. The first groove (27") being closer to the side (25") of the plastic
profile, which is substantially flat, is designed to accommodate a step (29") formed
by each folded side edge of the outer folded metal sheet (13") when fastening the
folded metal sheet (13") at the side plastic profiles (16") of the panel. The second
groove (28') which is located closer to the side (30') of the plastic profile with
one groove is shaped to accommodate the step (29') formed on the lower and the upper
folded edges of the outer folded metal sheet (13') when fastening the folded metal
sheet (13') at the upper and the lower plastic profiles (16') of the panel.
[0019] The plastic profile (16', 16") of the panel also comprises one side (30', 30") with
one recess formed along the profile. Further on, between the substantially flat side
(25', 25") and the side (30', 30") with one groove of the plastic profile, a side
(36', 36") is formed comprising a tongue (31', 31") for fixing the edge of the inner
folded metal sheet (15', 15") to the plastic profile (16', 16"). Said tongue on one
edge is connected to the plastic profile and the other edge is free. A gap is formed
from the joined edge to the free edge between the tongue (31', 31") and the surface
of the plastic profile on which the tongue (31', 31") is formed. By inserting the
edge of the inner metal sheet (15', 15") with a bulge (32', 32") formed thereon into
the said gap the tongue (31', 31") is elastically deformed. Said bulge (32', 32")
can be formed over the entire length of the folded edge of the sheet or at intervals.
Said bulge can be formed as a non-deformable elevation with one sloping edge and one
substantially straight edge. Alternatively said bulge can be formed as a tongue attached
at one end to the sheet of the folded piece forming a slope at that end and extending
above the surface of the folded metal sheet forming a gap between the surface of the
sheet and the tongue. In the second case the tongue is deformed by inserting the edge
of the folded metal sheet into the gap between the tongue (31', 31") of the plastic
profile and the surface on which the tongue (31', 31") of the plastic profile is formed.
In both cases the slope is formed to facilitate the insertion of the edge of the inner
metal sheet folded piece (15', 15") into the gap between the surface of the plastic
profile and the tongue. Said tongue (31', 31") on the inner surface that is in the
said gap and in front of the side of the plastic profile comprises a groove (33',
33") formed at least partially or substantially in accordance with said bulge (32',
32") on the edge of the inner folded metal sheet (15', 15'). When said bulge (32',
32") enters said groove (33', 33") said tongue (31', 31") returns to its original
non-deformed state or less deformed state during which the tongue forces the edge
of the inner folded metal sheet (15', 15") to the side of the plastic profile and
the interaction of said groove (33', 33") and said bulge (32', 32") does not allow
the said edge of the folded metal sheet (15', 15") to be pulled out of the said gap
until the retraction force does not exceed the force of the tongue's resistance to
deformation and engagement between the said bulge and the said groove.
[0020] In all cases the outer folded metal sheet (13, 13', 13") and the inner folded metal
sheet (15, 15', 15") are interconnected through plastic profiles (16.1, 16.2, 16.3,
16.4, 16', 16") as described above and so as not to have direct contact points between
said two folded metal sheets.
[0021] In some embodiments of the air handling unit the construction of the top panel is
substantially the same as described above but additionally includes an opening with
a flange or opening with a flap.
[0022] Structure of the side panels of the air handling unit is essentially the same as
the bottom, the top and the rear panels described above but additionally includes
an opening with a flange or opening with a flap.
[0023] In all cases of sections of the air handling unit the front part is provided with
a door or a removable panel. The removable panel has substantially the same construction
as of the aforementioned rear panel (11).
[0024] Fig. 5 shows another example of the air flow restriction and diverting section (S
FV) of the air handling unit. The section (S
FV), in addition to described example in Fig. 2, may include an inner air flow partition
(50) that divides the section so as to form two air flow passages. The inner struts
(9.1, 9.4) of one side for this type of section extend from the bottom panel (8) to
the top panel (10) and the inner struts (9.2, 9.3) on other side of the section extend
from the bottom panel (8) to the partition (50) and are attached to them respectively.
On the side where the inner struts (9.2, 9.3) extend from the bottom panel to the
partition a frame structure (51) or additional inner struts are mounted between the
partition (50) and the top panel (10). The side panels (6, 7) of such section, when
section is the first or last one in the sequence of the sections of the air handling
unit, are composed of two parts: the first panel (7) with an opening and the connecting
flange, or with an opening and a flap, is fixed to the inner struts of the housing,
covering the side portion from the bottom panel (8) to the partition (50); a second
panel (6) with an opening and a connecting flange or with an opening and a flap is
fastened to said additional inner struts or the frame structure (51) covering the
side portion from the partition (50) to the top panel (10). When connecting such sections
to each other said side panels are mounted on sides of the first and the last section
and the sections are interconnected without said side panels in between the sections.
In the front part of the section (S
FV) the door struts (52) for mounting the door (53) are attached to at least the front
inner struts (9.1, 9.2) and said at least one bottom panel (8).
[0025] Fig. 6 shows a door sections of the air handling unit according to the invention.
The door (53) includes a door panel (12), a first portion (60.1, 60.2) of a door lock
mechanism attached to the panel (12) and a first portion of a hinge (61.1, 61.2).
A second part of the door lock mechanism and a second part of the hinge are attached
on the outside of the section housing. The door is preferably equipped with at least
two lock mechanisms and at least two hinges. In this way the entire locking mechanism
and the entire hinge are secured outside the section without forming a cold bridge
to the interior of the section.
[0026] In some embodiments of the invention the air flow movement restriction and diverting
section with an inner air flow partition (50) comprises an inner air flow partition
with an opening including a flange or a flap.
[0027] Fig. 7 shows an example of the heat exchanger section (S
RS) of the air handling unit. The section (S
RS) in addition to described embodiment in Fig. 2 comprises lateral air distribution
partitions (70.1, 70.2) on the air inlet and outlet sides of the section, where said
partitions divide the sides into the lower and the upper portions but do not extend
from the air inlet side to the air outlet side. In the front part of the section the
door struts for mounting door are attached to at least the front inner struts (9.1,
9.2) and said at least one bottom panel (8) as shown and described in Fig. 5. The
door comprises a door panel, a first portion of a door lock mechanism attached to
the panel and a first portion of the hinge. The second part of the door lock mechanism
and the second part of the hinge are attached on the outside of the section housing.
The door is preferably equipped with at least two lock mechanisms and at least two
hinges. In this way the entire locking mechanism and the entire hinge are secured
outside the section without forming a cold bridge to the interior of the section.
[0028] In some embodiments of the invention the heat exchanger section (S
PS), as shown in Fig. 8, comprises a structure as described in the embodiment of the
section in Fig. 2 with addition of lateral air flow partitions (80). Said partitions
divide the air inlet and air outlet sides into the lower and upper parts but do not
extend from the air inlet side to the air outlet side and have two rear (84), two
top (83), two bottom (82) panels, and two doors (81). In addition the partitions further
comprise central struts that extend only partially over the entire section height.
In the front part of the section the door struts for mounting the door (81) are attached
to at least the front inner struts and lower panels (82). The door (81) includes a
door panel (12), a first part (85) of a door lock mechanism attached to the panel
and a first portion of the hinge (86). The second part of the door lock mechanism
and the second part of the hinge are attached on the outside of the section housing.
The door is preferably equipped with at least two lock mechanisms and at least two
hinges. In this way, the entire locking mechanism and the entire hinge are secured
outside the section without forming a cold bridge to the interior of the section.
[0029] In all cases of the sections according to the invention and as shown in Fig. 6 and
Fig. 9 the door panel comprises an outer folded metal sheet (62, 92), a stone wool
layer (94), an inner folded metal sheet (63, 93), lateral, lower and upper plastic
profiles (65.1, 65.2, 65.3, 65.4, 95) connecting said folded metal sheets, longitudinal
folded metal pieces (96) for increasing the rigidness of said plastic profiles, which
in most cases are inserted into lateral profiles (65.1, 65.2, 95), and transverse
folded metal pieces (67.1, 67.2) for increasing rigidity of the panel. The structure
of said plastic profiles is the same for all plastic profiles of the door frame according
to the invention. The outer folded metal sheet (62, 92) can be made of such material
as galvanized steel or other materials having the same or better mechanical properties.
The longitudinal folded metal piece (96) can be made of such material as galvanized
steel or other materials having the same or better mechanical properties. This folded
piece is used to increase rigidity of plastic profiles and as a basis for fastening
components to the housing of the air handling unit using self-tapping screw fasteners.
The plastic profiles (65.1, 65.2, 65.3, 65.4, 95), at their ends, are formed at an
angle such that putting together the respective ends of the upper profile (65.4) and
the lower profile (65.3) with the ends of the lateral profiles (65.1, 65.2) right
angles are formed. The lower and the upper profiles are connected to the lateral profiles
at their ends by thermal connection, directly, without additional means such as corner
pieces. The connection can be, for example, a welding or a soldering seam. In this
way rigidity of the resulting frame is increased compared to connection when connecting
angle pieces are used. One, preferably two, transverse folded metal pieces (67.1,
67.2) for increasing rigidity of the panel are fixed to the lateral plastic profiles
(65.1, 65.2) inside the panel in such a way so that they only touch the inner folded
metal sheet (63, 93), but not the outer folded metal sheet (62, 92).
[0030] In all cases of the sections according to the invention and as shown in Fig. 9, in
all door structure cases, shape of the plastic profiles (95) of the door panel comprises
one side (98) to which the edge of the outer folded metal sheet (92) presses itself
up to the folded part (99) of the edge of folded sheet. The plastic profile of the
door panel further comprises a side (102) with a tongue (104) formed thereon and an
elastically deformable gasket (105) on its surface. The tongue (104) is connected
at one edge to the plastic profile (95) and the other edge is free and from the connected
edge to the free edge between the tongue (104) and the surface of the plastic profile
(95) on which the tongue (104) is formed there is a gap formed throughout the whole
length of the profile. Into said gap the folded edge portion (99) of the outer folded
metal sheet (92) is inserted substantially without a gap between the surfaces of said
folded piece (92) and the profile (95). Said gasket (105) is molded onto said tongue
(104) over the entire length of the profile so as to be in contact with the door strut
(106) when the door is closed. It further comprises one side (107) on the surface
of which an elastically deformable gasket (108) is molded over its entire length.
This gasket throughout its length is in contact with the door struts (106) the edges
of the bottom and the top panels of the section. The profile (95) further comprises
a side (109) with a second tongue (110) for securing the edge of the inner metal sheet
folded piece (93) to the plastic profile (95). The tongue (110) is formed in such
a way that a gap would be created between it and the surface of the plastic profile
(95) on which said tongue is formed. The tongue (110) is elastically deformed by inserting
the edge (111) of the inner folded metal sheet (93) with the bulge (112) formed thereon.
Said bulge (112) can be formed as a non-deformable bulge with one sloping edge and
one substantially straight edge. Alternatively said bulge (112) can be formed as a
tongue attached at one end to the sheet of the folded piece forming a slope at that
end and extending above the surface of the sheet of the folded sheet forming a gap
between the surface of the sheet and the tongue. In the second case the tongue is
deformed by inserting the edge of the sheet of the folded piece into the gap between
tongue (110) of the plastic profile and the surface on which the tongue of the plastic
profile is formed. In both cases the slope is formed to facilitate the insertion of
the edge (111) of the outer folded metal sheet into the gap between the surface of
the plastic profile (95) and the tongue (110). Said bulge (112) can be formed over
the entire length of the folded edge of the sheet or at intervals. Said second tongue
(110) on the inner surface which is in the said gap and in front of the side of the
plastic profile comprises a groove (113) formed at least partially or substantially
in accordance with said bulge (112) on the edge (111) of the inner metal sheet folded
piece (93). When said bulge (112) enters said groove (113) said tongue (110) returns
to its original non-deformed state or less deformed state during which the tongue
forces the edge (111) of the inner sheet folded piece (93) to the side (109) of the
plastic profile and the interaction of said groove (113) and said bulge (112) does
not allow the said edge of the folded piece to be pulled out of said gap until the
retraction force upon the edge (111) of the sheet does not exceed the forces of the
tongue's resistance to deformation and engagement between said bulge (112) and the
said groove (113).
[0031] In all embodiments of the air handling unit the outer folded metal sheet and the
inner folded metal sheet piece of the panels according to the invention are interconnected
through plastic profiles as described above and in such a way that there is no direct
contact between the points of the outer and the inner folded metal sheets.
[0032] Said elastically deformable gaskets (105, 108) are molded on the lower, the upper
and the lateral plastic profiles (65.1, 65.2, 65.3, 65.4, 95) of the door frame. The
gaskets (105, 108) molded on each of the said profiles, after assembling said plastic
profiles (65.1, 65.2, 65.3, 65.4, 95) into a rigid frame, respectively, constitute
integral gaskets that are joined at the ends by gluing, melting, or other similar
methods, and which gaskets extend around the entire perimeter of the door. Both gaskets
(105, 108) are molded on the sides of the plastic profile (104, 107) facing the respective
portions of the door struts (106). In the areas of contact with the bottom panel and
the top panel of the section said two gaskets (105, 108) come in contact with the
respective surfaces of the said two panels forming a stepped shape corresponding to
the stepped shape of the edges of the door panel.
[0033] In all cases of sections the door lock mechanism includes a first part of the lock
(114) attached to the outer folded metal sheet (92) of the door and comprising a housing
with openings for screws for attachment to the plastic profile (95) of the door panel,
and the inner folded metal reinforcement piece (96) located therein through the outer
folded metal sheet. It further comprises a controlled portion of the locking and retracting
mechanism inside the housing of the door lock mechanism and a control handle for locking
and retracting mechanism. The locking mechanism further comprises a second portion
(115) that is attached to the inner metal folded piece (116) of the strut (106) of
ventilation installation's housing. The second portion (115) comprises housing with
holes for screws for attachment to the strut (106), a static part of the locking and
retracting mechanism comprising a member for interaction of the controlled part with
the static part. The interaction member of the controlled portion can be a tongue,
a pin or other element that through interaction with a static part, such as a cavity
therein, allows to retract the door of the installation's housing and to lock it.
As the entire door lock mechanism is attached on the outside of installation's housing
and not inside the door and housing panels, a cold bridge is avoided.
[0034] The door lock mechanism has three positions: a fully closed door, ajar door and a
fully opened door. In the fully closed door position the door is tightly closed and
locked in relation to the housing of the installation. In case of ajar door the door
lock mechanism which is operated through the handle allows a distance of several millimeters
between the housing of the air handling unit and the door to allow air pressure inside
the air handling unit to equalize with the atmospheric pressure. In the ajar position,
the door lock mechanism prevents the door from opening more than it is required to
safely equalize the said pressures.
[0035] Door hinges are attached to the outer surface of the outer folded sheet of the door
and the outer surface of the housing strut avoiding the cold bridge.
[0036] In all embodiments of the air handling unit the plastic profiles are multi-chamber
plastic profiles.
[0037] In one embodiment of the invention as shown in Fig. 1 the air handling unit is formed
of at least three sections one of which is for the heat exchanger. The air flow restriction
and diverting sections are connected to this section on both sides as described above.
In other embodiments of the invention, an unlimited number of air flow restriction
and diverting sections with different equipment can be mounted on both sides of the
heat exchanger section.
