    Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a cooking oven with steam cooking function. In particular, the present invention relates to a freestanding cooking oven with steam cooking function.

[0002] In a cooking oven with steam cooking function, water has to be heated up in order to generate steam. For example, water on the bottom wall of the oven cavity is heated up by a special heating element arranged beneath said bottom wall. For other cooking operation modes a further heating element is arranged beneath the bottom wall.

[0003] However, such a cooking oven with steam cooking function is very complex.

[0004] US2017/276378A1 discloses a cooking oven according to the preamble of claim 1 of the present invention.

[0005] It is an object of the present invention to provide a cooking oven with steam cooking function by low complexity.

[0006] The object is achieved by the cooking oven with steam cooking function according to claim 1.

[0007] According to the present invention a cooking oven with steam cooking function, in particular a freestanding cooking oven with steam cooking function and a non-steam-cooking function, is provided, wherein:
    • the cooking oven comprises an oven cavity with a bottom wall, a top wall, a rear wall and side walls, wherein at least the bottom wall is partially covered with a coating on a side facing towards an interior of the oven cavity,
    • the cooking oven comprises a bottom heating element arranged beneath the bottom wall of the oven cavity,
    • the cooking oven comprises a top heating element arranged beneath the top wall of the oven cavity,
    • the cooking oven comprises an evaporation area formed as an embossment in the bottom wall of the oven cavity, the embossment being coated with the coating and
    • at least in a steam cooking operation mode the bottom heating element and the top heating element are connected in series
    • in the non-steam-cooking function, the bottom heating element and the top heating element are either connected in parallel or disconnected from each other.

[0008] The core of the present invention is that one bottom heating element is arranged beneath the bottom wall of the oven cavity on the one hand and that the bottom heating element and the top heating element are connected in series in the steam cooking operation mode on the other hand, and are connected not in series in a non-steam-cooking function, in particular in a normal baking function. By this way, the cooking oven with steam cooking function is realised by low complexity. Furthermore by switching bottom heating element in series with the top heating element the power of the bottom element is reduced vice-versa a coupling in parallel to avoid a cracking of the coating in the steam-cooking mode. The coating may be enamel.

[0009] In an embodiment the oven has only one bottom heating element which may be switched in parallel with the top heating element for a baking function and switched in series for the steam cooking function.

[0010] For example, the evaporation area is filled or fillable with water manually by the user and/or automatically by a water supply.

[0011] In an embodiment the cooking oven further comprises a rear heating element in front of or behind a rear wall of the oven cavity. The cooking further comprises a cooking fan arranged in front of or behind the rear wall of the oven cavity.

[0012] Preferably, the rear heating element is a ring heating element enclosing the at least one cooking fan.

[0013] In particular, the rear heating element is connected parallel to the bottom heating element and the top heating element. In particular in steam cooking function the rear heating element is connected to the series of the bottom heating element and the top heating element.

[0014] Preferably, the side facing towards an interior of the oven cavity of bottom wall, top wall, rear wall and side wall are partially, preferably completely coated with the coating.

[0015] Further, the cooking oven may comprise at least one thermostat for activating and deactivating the bottom heating element, the top heating element and the rear heating element.

[0016] Preferably, the thermostat is connected in series to the group comprising at least the bottom heating element and the top heating element. In an embodiment the thermostat is connected in series to all heaters arranged in the oven.

[0017] Moreover, the cooking oven may comprise a selector switch for activating the steam cooking operation mode.

[0018] Additionally, the cooking oven may comprise a push button for activating the steam cooking function.

[0019] For example, the push button and the rear heating element are connected in series.

[0020] Further, the cooking oven may comprise a temperature knob for setting a temperature threshold value for the thermostat.

[0021] The rear heating element and the at least one cooking fan may be simultaneously activatable and deactivatable.

[0022] Additionally, the cooking oven comprises at least one cooling fan for cooling down the oven cavity.

[0023] In particular, the push button includes at least one indicator light for illuminating said push button in the steam cooking operation mode.

[0024] Further, the power of the rear heating element may be between 1500 W and 2500 W, preferably between 1800 W and 2200 W, in particular about 2000 W.

[0025] Moreover, the total power of the bottom heating element and the top heating element is between 300 W and 600 W, preferably between 400 W and 500 W, in particular about 450 W, when connected in series.

[0026] Optionally, the cooking oven may have a second bottom heating element which is arranged such that it surrounds the embossment in the bottom wall. The second heating element may be connected in parallel with the bottom heating element and the top heating element. The second heating element is switched off in steam cooking mode and may be activated either by switching to non-steam cooking mode or by optional activation by the user in non-steam cooking mode.

[0027] Novel and inventive features of the present invention are set forth in the appended claims.
