[origin: US4155637A] An apparatus for developing diazo material according to a semi-dry process comprising an applicator roll with a liquid absorbing cover, a press roll having a grooved hard surface, a backing roll biased against the press roll, and a blade for reducing the amount of developer liquid on the applicator roll and the press roll. The press roll is displaceable toward the applicator roll. The plane of transport of the diazo material to be developed passes between the applicator roll and the press roll. The axial moment of inertia of the press roll relative to the axial moment of inertia of the applicator means is determined in accordance by an equation containing weight components of the press roll, weight components of the applicator roll, the contact pressure component of the backing roll, and the sum of the components of the tangential force and normal force of the contact pressure of the blade and the frictional force along the line of contact of the blade on the applicator roll.

In einer Entwicklungseinrichtung zur Entwicklung von Diazokopiermaterial nach dem Halbfeuchtverfahren werden eine Auftragwalze (3) mit einem Flüssigkeit adsorbierenden, elastischen Belag (12) und eine auf sie verschlebbare, eine gerillte harte Oberfläche aufwisende Presswalze (2) durch eine mittig angeordnete Pressrolle (1) gegeneinander gedrückt, wobei zwischen der Auftragwalze (3) und der Presswalze (2) eine Entwicklerzone gebildet wird. Eine Lamelle (4) liegt an der Antragwalze (3) an. Um an das Diazokopiermaterial gleichmässig geringe Mengen Entwicklerflüssigkeit anzutragen, ist das äquatoriale Trägheitsmoment (J2) der Presswalze (2) zu dem äquatorialen Trägheitsmoment (J3) der Auftragwalze (3) nach einer bestimmten Beziehung bemessen, in die das Gewicht (G2) der Presswalze (2), das Gewicht (G3) der Antragwalze (3), die Zustellkragt (P1) der Pressrolle (1) sowie die Zustellkraft (P4) und die Reibkraft der Lamelle eingehen.
