1. Method for a rapid insertion and removal of a dummy bar chain (1,0) upon a change in the cross sectional format of a continuous casting installation, characterized in that the dummy bar chain (1,0) is guided into a preferably arcuate first guide (1,9) on a swingable ramp (1,2), that the swingable ramp (1,2) is risen so that the first guide (1,9) is connected to a second preferably arcuate guide (1,4), that the dummy bar chain (1,0) is separated into two parts, a head segment (1,5) and a remainder (1,1) that the head segment (1,5) is displaced in the second guide (1,4) so that it can be gripped and tranferred by way of a gripper-lift-displacer device (1,6/1,7/1,8) into a magazine (2,2) and stored there, that the gripper-lift-displacer device takes another head segment (1,5) having a different cross-sectional format and transfers it into the second guide (1,4), and that the head segment (1,5) is coupled to the remainder (1,1).

Zum schnellen Ein- und Ausbringen einer Anfahrkette 1,0 beim Formatwechsel in einer Stranggiessanlage, sieht man ein An- bzw. Abkuppeln des eigentlichen Anfahrteilstückes 1,5 an das bzw. von dem Reststück 1,1 der Anfahrkette vor. Das Rest-Stück wird innerhalb einer vorzugsweise bogenförmigen Führung 1,9 in Ruhestellung gebracht und zum Zweck eines An- bzw. Abkuppelns des Anfahr-Teilstückes wird dieses über eine gleichfalls vorzugsweise bogenförmige Führung 1,4 mittels eines automatisierten Greifer-Hub- und Transportsystems 1,6/1,7 ausgehend von einem Magazin herangeführt bzw. dorthin zurückgeführt.
