Eine Vorrichtung zum Herstellen von Schuppenbandrollen (37) aus geschuppt übereinander auf ein Förderband abgelegten flachen flexiblen Gegenständen, wie Säcken oder Sackwerkstücken, weist einen im Maschinengestell gelagerten Wickelkern (45) auf, auf dem mindestens ein von einer Vorratsrolle (39) abgezogenes Halteband (40), das sich beim Aufwickeln des Schuppenbandes von oben her haltend über dieses spannt, befestigt ist. Ein die Werkstücke zuführender Bandförderer besteht aus einem mindestens an entgegengesetzten Enden Rollen (31, 33) tragenden Rahmen (35), über dessen Rollen (31, 32, 33, 34) ein angetriebenes, endloses Förderband (28) läuft. Weiterhin ist eine Einrichtung zum Anstellen des Rahmens (35) an den Wickelkern (45) bzw. die sich auf diesem bildende Schuppenbandrolle (37) zu deren Antrieb durch dessen endloses Förderband (28) vorgesehen. Auf einer quer zum Bandförderer (28) angeordneten Achse (53) sind zwei Schwenkarme (47, 49) längsverschieblich gelagert, die an ihren Enden je einen einen Wickelkern (45) aufnehmenden Zapfen (46, 50) tragen. Die Schwenkarme (47, 49) können spiegelbildlich zueinander angeordnet sein, wobei die Zapfen (46, 50) nach aussen weisen. Auf jedem Schwenkarm (47, 49) kann ein sich radial erstreckender Träger (61) befestigt sein, der mittels Klemmbacken (67) auf den Umfang der Schuppenbandrolle (37) drückt.
