In a basic stand (123) there is a vertically displaceable diaphragm cover (25) with a working diaphragm (27) arranged on its underside, and there is also a vertically adjustable filling basket (20) above a surface which serves as an abutment (5) and which is itself a transport device (12) or over which runs a transport device (12), for example a conveyor belt or band. The article to be expressed is introduced into the filling basket from above while this is being placed onto the water-permeable abutment (5). The subsequent expressing operation takes place in two phases. In the first phase, the diaphragm cover penetrates vertically into the filling basket, and in the recompression phase water is removed completely from the material by applying pressure to the diaphragm. The pressed cake obtained is thereafter retained on the abutment (5) by the diaphragm cover and the filling basket raised. In einem Grundgestell (123) ist ein vertikal verschiebbarer Membrandeckel (25) vorgesehen mit an seiner Unterseite angeordneter Arbeitsmembrane (27) und ein ebenfalls höhenverstellbarer Füllkorb (20) oberhalb einer als Widerlager (5) dienenden Fläche, die selber eine Transportvorrichtung (12) ist oder von einer Transportvorrichtung (12) überlaufen wird, beispielsweise einem Transportgurt oder -band. Das auszupressende Gut wird in den Füllkorb von oben eingebracht, während dieser auf das wasserdurchlässige Widerlager (5) aufgesetzt ist. Der anschließende Auspreßvorgang erfolgt in zwei Phasen. In der ersten Phase taucht der Membrandeckel in vertikaler Richtung in den Füllkorb ein, und in der Nachverdichtungsphase wird durch Druckgabe auf die Membrane das Material vollständig entwässert. Der entstandene Preßkuchen wird anschließend durch den Membrandeckel auf dem Widerlager (5) festgehalten und der Füllkorb angehoben. Anschließend fahren Füllkorb und Membrandeckel hoch, und der Preßkuchen wird durch die Transportvorrichtung in beliebiger Richtung aus der Maschine heraustransportiert.
