[origin: US4423097A] A seal intended to wear from abrasion for use in contact with a rotor zone of a rotating machine, of thetype made up of a dispersion of hollow microspheres in a binder providing cohesion of the microspheres among themselves and their attachment to a metallic support. In order to make it possible to produce the seal by torch spraying from a powdered mixture onto the support, the hollow microspheres are made of an inorganic refractory material and the binder material is a metallic material more fusible than the material of the microspheres.

Joint susceptible d'être usé par abrasion à disposer en contact avec une zone de rotor d'une machine tournante et du genre constitué par une dispersion de microbilles creuses dans un liant assurant la cohésion des microbilles entre elles et leur liaison avec un support métallique. En vue notamment de permettre la réalisation dudit joint par projection à la torche d'un mélange pulvérulent sur le support, le dit joint est caractérisé en ce que les microbilles creuses (32) sont en un matériau inorganique réfractaire et en ce que le matériau du liant (33) est un matériau métallique sensiblement plus fusible que le matériau des microbilles. L'invention convient notamment à la réalisation de joints susceptibles d'être usés par abrasion pour étages de turbo-machines.
