At least one structural component of a luminaire, for example a floodlight housing or a top baffle of a spotlight, is made by providing one or more sheet metal blanks, punching apertures in the blank(s) to define lines of weakness (L) therein, bending the blank(s) along lines of weakness and securing together different parts of the blank(s) that, after bending, are next to one another to retain the blank(s) in their correctly formed position.
