Die Warenbahnführung erfolgt über drei Zylinder, und zwar einem mittig angeordneten Gegendruckzylinder (12) und einem in Warenlaufrichtung vorgeordneten Führungszylinder (21) und einem in Warenlaufrichtung nachgeordneten Führungszylinder (20). Über diesen drei Zylindern soll ein Spannungsaufbau in der Materialbahn (24) erfolgen, dadurch, daß die Umfangsgeschwindigkeit des auf der Zulaufseite zum Gegendruckzylinder liegenden Führungszylinders kleiner gehalten wird, als die Umfangsgeschwindigkeit des Gegendruckzylinders (12) und die Umfangsgeschwindigkeit des auf der Ablaufseite liegenden Führungszylinders (20) größer ist als die Umfangsgeschwindigkeit des Gegendruckzylinders (12). Dies kann z.B. durch Untersetzung oder Übersetzung der Antriebsräder (16, 17) im Verhältnis zum Antriebsrad (13) des Gegendruckzylinders (12) erfolgen und/oder durch Durchmesseränderung der Führungszylinder (20, 21) selbst. Die Drehzahl aller drei Zylinder ist dann gleich. Die Warenbahn wird im Druckbereich straff gehalten.
