1. A method of wrapping a stack of articles with a plurality of convolutions, in particular applied in the form of a coil, af a web of extensible sheeting, which is directed on to the periphery of the stack of articles (12) from a supply roll (7) via a second roll (11) whilst being stretched as a result of retardation of the supply roll (7), wherein the web is driven by the second, driven roll (11) at a peripheral speed which is higher than the average peripheral speed of the stack of articles, characterized in that the rate of stretch of the sheeting between the supply roll (7) and the second roll (11) is not greater than approximatively 100 % per 0.1 sec.

Verfahren und Vorrichtung zum Umwickeln eines Packgutstapels mit mehreren, insbesondere schraubenförmig gelegten Windungen einer Bahn aus Dehnfolie. Die Folie wird von einer Vorratsrolle (7) über eine zweite Rolle (11) auf den sich drehenden Packgutstapel (12) aufgeführt. Dabei wird die Vorratsrolle (7) mittels einer Bremse (6) gebremst und die zweite Rolle (11) mit höherer Umfangsgeschwindigkeit angetrieben, so daß die Folie zwischen diesen Rollen gedehnt wird. Die zweite Rolle (11) hat auch eine höhere Umfangsgeschwindigkeit als der Packgutstapel (12), so daß die Folie sich zwischen der zweiten Rolle (11) und dem Packgutstapel teilweise entspannen kann. Die nach dem Umwickeln in ihr noch enthaltene Dehnung führt im Anschluß an den Wickelvorgang langsam zur Bildung der Packspannung. Das Verfahren hat den Vorteil, daß die Folie mit sehr geringer Spannung auf den Stapel aufgeführt werden kann, wodurch sowohl das Pack-gut als auch die Folie geschont werden. Auch die Dehnung erfolgt schonend.
