[origin: WO8300834A1] Method of determining the position of a robot or manipulator arm or the like such that the position determination will be totally independent of material deformations and plays which may occur for great loads on the arm. This is accomplished by sensing the position of the robot or manipulator arm (1) in relation to an independent, unloaded arm (2), whose position may be accurately determined and which is arranged in connection with the work arm (2). The invention also related to a robot or manipulator arm arranged for such position determination.
