[origin: US4570875A] A sliding base is guided for vertical movement on an upright of the traverse mechanism. It bears a camera having its lens directed along a horizontal axis toward a vertical bank of lights. A drum supported by uprights and driven rotatingly by a motor can move back and forth on rails, while the traversing carriage bearing vertical rolls guiding a cable can likewise move parallel to the axis of the drum in order to check and, if neccessary, modify the approach angle formed by the incoming cable about to be laid on the winding. The silhouette of the zone of the winding where the turns are laid down is formed on a receiving surface within the camera, this surface taking the form of a photodiode grid, the periodic scanning of which yields signals sensing the conditions under which the cable is being wound.

Le socle coulissant (21) est guidé sur le montant (19) du dispositif de trancanage et se déplace verticalement en hauteur. Il porte une caméra (28) dont l'objectif (29) est dirigé selon un axe horizontal sur une rampe éclairante verticale (30). La bobine (1) supportée par les montants (16 et 15) et entraînée en rotation par le moteur (9) peut se déplacer de droite à gauche et de gauche à droite sur les rails (18), alors que le chariot de trancanage (23) qui porte les rouleaux verticaux (24) guidant le câble (2) peut également se déplacer parallèlement à l'axe de la bobine afin de contrôler et modifier le cas échéant l'angle de retard que forme le brin (7) au moment de se déposer sur l'enroulement. La silhouette de la zone de l'enroulement où des spires se déposent est formée sur une surface de réception à l'intérieur de la caméra (28) cette surface étant matérialisée par une grille de photo-diodes dont le balayage périodique permet de former des signaux détectant des conditions de dépôt du brin (7).
