Abstract (en)
[origin: US4575397A] The invention relates to a rail having high resistance to wear in its head and high resistance to rupture in its foot. It is the characteristic feature of the invention that after rolling followed by heat treatment the rail has a fine pearlitic structure in the head and a martensitic annealed grain structure in the foot. The invention also includes preferred methods of heat treatment for the rail.
