1. A horizontal continuous casting mould, in particular for continuously casting steel, comprising a feed section (11) formed of refractory material on the feed side, which is sealingly connectable to a storage vessel (4) for the melt (3), and a mould main body (28) alignedly abutting on the feed section (11), forming a steplessly through-going mould cavity (34), provided with an internal cooling and preferably made of copper or a copper alloy, characterised in that the feed section front part (18) is provided with a heating means (22), and that a means (25) for detecting the formed strand skin (24), preferably a temperature measuring means, is provided between the heating means (22) and the end of the feed section (11) lying in the strand extraction direction.

Eine Horizontalstranggiesskokille, insbesondere zum Stahlstranggiessen, mit einem einlaufseitig aus feuerfestem Material gebildeten Einlaufteil (11), der dirchtend an ein Vorratsgefäss (4) für die Schmelze (3) anschliessbar ist, weist einen an den Einlaufteil (11) fluchtend anschliessenden und einen durchgehend stufenlosen Kokillenhohlraum (34) bildenden, mit einer Innenkühlung versehenen, vorzugsweise aus Kupfer oder einer Kupferlegierung gebildeten Kokillenhauptkörper (28) auf. Um den Strangschalenbeginn eindeutig an einer gewünschten Stelle festlegen zu können, ist der Einlaufvorderteil (18) mit einer Heizeinrichtung (22) versehen, und ist zwischen der Heizeinrichtung (22) und dem in Ausziehrichtung des Stranges liegenden Ende des Einlaufteiles (11) eine Einrichtung (25) zum Orten der gebildeten Strangschale (24), vorzugsweise eine Temperaturmesseinrichtung, vorgesehen.
