[origin: US4669600A] An apparatus for forming article groups each consisting of a plurality of edgewise upright oriented, generally flat stacked articles, includes a first conveyor for individually advancing the articles in a lying orientation; a second conveyor for receiving the articles from the first conveyor and for depositing the articles individually on a gathering channel in an edgewise upright orientation; a first article group shifting unit for periodically forming one group of articles of predetermined number from articles accumulating on the gathering channel as deposited by the second conveyor and for individually advancing that group on the gathering channel away from the second conveyor; a second article group shifting unit forming a second group of articles of predetermined number from articles accumulating on the gathering channel as deposited by the second conveyor, and simultaneously advancing the first and second groups on the gathering channel to a discharge end thereof.

Zur gleichzeitigen Uebergabe von wenigstens zwei Gruppen (12, 13) von Gegenständen, die mit einem Förderrad (5) gebildet wurden, sind ein Gabelpaar (14, 15) und ein Trennfingerpaar (16, 17) vorhanden. Das Gabelpaar (14, 15) dient zum Verschieben einer ersten Gruppe (12) während der Bildung der zweiten Gruppe (13). Die beiden Gruppen (12, 13) werden dann mit einem Trennfingerpaar (16, 17) zu einer Uebergabestelle (18) geschoben, wo die Gruppen (12, 13) bis zur Weitergabe an ein Förderorgan (25), bei der sie durch Schienen (22, 23, 24) voneinander getrennt gehalten sind, mit den Trennfingern (16, 17) getrennt gehalten. Eine derartige Anordnung erbringt eine hohe Leistung bei geringem technischem Aufwand, hohe Portioniergenauigkeit und die Produkte werden äusserst schonen behandelt.
