Process for manufacturing boxless and segmented casting molds by using at least one machine box (9), which can move preferably vertically and two mold support plates (4 or 5) which can be brought in an alternating manner in contact with said box (9), the free unused support plate (4) being held in a stand-by position outside the region of action of the box (9). Said process enables the rational manufacture of molds provided with shells by applying a shell molding material on the support plate (4) in the stand-by position during the stand-by period and filling with molding sand the shell thus formed and freed of excess molded matter, while the support plate (4) and machine box (9) operate in collaboration.

Bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung geteilter, kastenloser Gießformen unter Verwendung mindestens eines vorzugsweise vertikal bewegbaren Maschinen-Formkastens (9) und zweier, im Wechsel zum Eingriff mit dem Maschinen-Formkasten (9) bringbarer Modellplatten (4 bzw. 5), wobei die jeweils nicht benutzte, freie Modellplatte (4) außerhalb des Wirkbereichs des Machinen-Formkastens (9) in einer Warteposition gehalten wird, wird dadurch eine rationelle Herstellung von mit Masken versehenen Formen erreicht, daß die in der Warteposition sich befindende Modellplatte (4) innerhalb der Wartezeit mit einem Maskenformstoff beaufschlagt wird und daß die dabei gebildete und von Maskenformstoffüberschuß befreite Maske beim anschließenden Zusammenwirken von Modellplatte (4) und Maschinen-Formkasten (9) mit Formsand hinterfüttert wird.
