[origin: EP0272520A2] For rolling sections, in particular sheet piles, there are customarily provided a number of stands having in each case a plurality of groove openings. The number of these stands can be reduced and thus the outlay lowered considerably if, for example, the first two or first three groove stands, customarily constructed as heavy roughing stands, are replaced by one universal stand 1, expediently additionally with an assigned edger 2. The essential first forming of the slab can then take place in reversing operation in this one universal stand with correspondingly formed roll barrels and any uncontrolled lateral edge seam occurring can be kept to a minimum by the edger. <IMAGE>
