Verfahren zur Steuerung des Betriebs von Zweischeiben Hon- oder Schleifmaschinen, deren Arbeitsscheiben (11, 12) mittels einer Belastungsvorrichtung (18) mit einem vorgegebenen, veränderbaren Belastungsdruck zueinander und auf die Werkstücke gedrückt werden, bei dem während des Betriebs mit Hilfe einer Meßsteuereinrichtung (35) der Materialabtrag der Werkstücke und ggf. der Arbeitsscheiben gemessen und die Bearbeitung beendet wird, wenn ein vorgegebenes Maß erreicht worden ist, wodurch der Materialabtrag pro Zeiteinheit (Istwert) gemessen und mit mindestens einem vorgegebenen Sollwert für den Materialabtrag pro Zeiteinheit verglichen wird und der Belastungsdruck der Belastungsvorrichtung automatisch erhöht wird, wenn der Istwert unterhalb des Sollwerts liegt.
