There is presented a method for closing a workpiece holder for an automatic sewing machine, which ensures that the workpiece parts, once aligned, are no longer displaced during the clamping, and a workpiece holder by means of which this process can be carried out is provided. The closing of the workpiece holder is brought about by the fact that the closing movement results from a combined pivoting and lowering movement. The top plate of the workpiece holder is thereby lowered over a large surface on to the aligned workpiece resting on the bottom plate of the workpiece holder, so that a uniform clamping takes place immediately. <??>Advantageously, the workpiece holder is designed so that the closing of the workpiece holder can be executed automatically, thus additionally achieving a reduction in the run-through times. <IMAGE>

Es wird ein Verfahren zum Schliessen eines Nähguthalters für einen Nähautomaten vorgestellt, mit dem sichergestellt ist, dass die einmal ausgerichteten Nähgutteile beim Klemmen nicht mehr verschoben werden, und ein Nähguthalter angegeben, mit dem dieses Verfahren ausführbar ist. Das Schliessen des Nähguthalters wird dadurch bewirkt, dass die Schliessbewegung aus einer kombinierten Schwenk- und Absenkbewegung resultiert. Dadurch wird die Oberplatte des Nähguthalters großflächig auf das auf der Unterplatte des Nähguthalters aufliegende und ausgerichtete Nähgut abgesenkt, so dass sofort ein gleichmäßiges Klemmen stattfindet. In vorteilhafter Weise ist der Nähguthalter so ausgebildet, dass das Schliessen des Nähguthalters selbsttätig ausführbar ist, so dass sich zusätzlich eine Verkürzung der Durchlaufzeiten ergibt.
