[origin: EP0369555A2] The invention relates to a method for the production of hot-rolled steel strip from a continuously cast material, in which the material, after solidification, is fed into a continuous rolling mill which works the material with as high a reduction per pass as possible and whose sets of rolls are arranged at a minimum distance one behind the other. In order to provide a method and an apparatus for the method with which method or apparatus it is possible to carry out a maximum reduction per pass in minimum roll passes, it is proposed that the feed strip be reduced under controlled tension at least in two successive sets of rolls. <IMAGE>
