The casting process corresponding to this device is characterized in that, in the course of the casting process, when the quantity of metal in the ladle (10) exceeds a predetermined quantity, the ladle is maintained in a low position (position according to reference 32), and when the quantity of metal is less than said predetermined quantity, the ladle is lifted (position 32') so as to maintain the lower end of the tube (31) below the level of the metal contained in the ladle.
