Um bei einem Behälterwagen, dessen Behälter (1) an beiden Enden in quer zur Längsrichtung des Behälterwagens angeordneten Endsätteln (2a), (2b) des Untergestells gegenüber dem Untergestell (3) abgestützt ist, an der Anbindungsstelle zwischen Behälter (1) und Untergestell (3), insbesondere bei Einwirkung von Pufferstößen auf das Untergestell (3), die Belastungen abzubauen und die Pufferkräfte zu erniedrigen, ist der Behälter (1) an beiden Wangenenden A, B jeweils zum zugeordneten Wagenende A bzw. B hin frei längsverschieblich gehalten und in Richtung auf die Quermittelebene des Behälterwagens an seinen Enden A, B über behälterseitige Anschlagstücke (4a) bzw. (4b) gegen untergestellseitige Widerlager (5a) bzw. (5b) abgestützt. Zum weiteren Energieverzehr kann zwischen dem Anschlagstück (4a) und dem zugeordneten Widerlager (5a) sowie zwischen dem Anschlagstück (4b) und dem Widerlager (5b) jeweils eine in Richtung auf die Quermittelebene des Behälterwagens wirksame Energieverzehreinrichtung (7a) bzw. (7b) angeordnet sein (Fig. 5).
