Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0440576A1] The device has the same number of invalidating units (E) arranged next to one another as there are longitudinal rows of printed vouchers provided on the print carriers (P). Each invalidating unit (E) has a frame (1), a trough (3) which is vertically displaceable therein for receiving ink (4), an impeller (7) which rotates constantly above the trough (3) and a shutter (11) which interacts with an opening (10) of a hood (9) which covers the impeller (7). The trough (3) is adjustable by a controlled adjustment element (6) between a raised operating position in which the impeller (7) dips into the ink and the shutter (11) releases the opening (10), and a lowered position of rest in which the impeller (7) does not dip into the ink and the opening (10) is covered by the shutter (11). The control takes place in each case whenever a printed voucher in one or more of the longitudinal rows of the print carriers, which is to be invalidated after having been detected as an incorrect print, passes the opening (10) of the invalidating unit concerned so that this faulty print is sprayed with ink by the impeller (7) through the opening (10) which is then free. <IMAGE>
