[origin: EP0442864A1] The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for the rolling of wires and rods with a reduction in cross-section of at least 50%. According to the invention the cross-sectional area of the rolling stock is reduced and its properties modified in a first step involving a preliminary deformation, whereupon the rolling stock is heated and further deformed in a second step.
