[origin: EP0541471A1] According to the method, these slabs are rolled on a blooming (cogging) mill according to edge rounds (2) having a radius (r) between substantially a quarter and a third of the length (c) of a side of the slab. The product (1) obtained is a compromise between a round in the form of a bar and a customary square slab. This slab with rounded edges dispenses with certain preforging operations on the premises of blacksmiths who use slabs and makes it possible, without expense, to extend the production range of square sections towards round products. <IMAGE>
