In a process for the application of liquid, pasty or plastic substances, in particular thermoplastics, to a substrate (1), these substances are melted and transferred, via a coating head (5), through a perforated cylinder (3) to the substrate (1). The perforated cylinder (3), together with a counterpressure roll (4), forms a coating nip (2) downstream of which the substrate (1) is taken off, partly looping over a roll (9). The spacing (a) between the rotational shafts (A, B) of the counterpressure roll (4) and cylinder (3) is smaller than a sum of the radii (r1 and r2). The counterpressure roll (4) moreover consists of a flexible material, so that a contact surface (8) of the coating head (5), for forming a coating nip (2), has a curvature whose radius corresponds approximately to that of the cylinder (3).

Bei einem Verfahren zum Auftragen von flüssigen, pastösen oder plastischen Substanzen, insbesondere von Thermoplasten, auf ein Substrat (1), werden diese Substanzen aufgeschmolzen und über einen Beschichtungskopf (5) durch einen perforierten Zylinder (3) auf das Substrat (1) übertragen. Der perforierte Zylinder (3) bildet zusammen mit einer Gegendruckwalze (4) einen Beschichtungsspalt (2) aus, nach welchem das Substrat (1) unter teilweiser Umschlingung einer Walze (9) abgezogen wird. Der Abstand (a) zwischen den Drehachsen (A, B) von Gegendruckwalze (4) und Zylinder (3) ist kleiner als eine Summe der Radien (r1 und r2). Ferner besteht die Gegendruckwalze (4) aus einem flexiblen Werkstoff, so daß eine Anlagefläche (8) des Beschichtungskopfes (5) zur Bildung eines Beschichtungsspaltes (2) eine Krümmung aufweist, deren Radius etwa demjenigen des Zylinders (3) entspricht. <IMAGE>
