[origin: EP0599782A1] A sheet-metal strip provided with offset incisions is conveyed continuously at a first speed by a first conveying means (23) and at a second speed, higher than the first speed, by a second conveying means (24). As a result, the free strip section (21) running between the first and the second conveying means (23, 24) is stretched, giving a three-dimensional expanded-metal structure. The method permits continuous rapid production of expanded metal of high accuracy and uniformity, especially as regards the mesh width and lattice height. <IMAGE>
