A press for crimping sleeves, cable terminations or the like onto a workpiece has two tools which can be moved together with the aid of a drive device to form a compression area, each tool having two opposite compression jaws whose compression surfaces are formed in such a manner that a polygonal shape is produced during compression. In order that workpieces of different diameter can be processed using the press, while manufacturing costs are comparatively low and good functional reliability is achieved, opposite compression jaws (10, 11; 36, 37, 54, 55) of at least one tool (4, 34, 35) can pivot thereon in such a manner that the other tool (5, 34, 35) moves against the compression jaws (10, 11, 36, 37, 54, 55) which can pivot when the tools (4, 5, 34, 35) are moved together, and it pivots from an original position into a compression position which forms the compression area. <IMAGE>

Ein Preßgerät zum Aufpressen von Hülsen, Kabelschuhen oder dergleichen auf ein Werkstück weist zwei Werkzeuge auf, die mit Hilfe einer Antriebseinrichtung unter Bildung eines Preßraumes zusammenführbar sind, wobei jedes Werkzeug zwei gegenüberliegende Preßbacken aufweist, deren Preßflächen derart geformt sind, daß sich beim Verpressen eine Mehreckform ergibt. Damit mit dem Preßgerät Werkstücke unterschiedlichen Durchmessers bearbeitet werden können, die Fertigungskosten aber vergleichsweise gering sind und eine gute Funktionssicherheit erzielt wird, sind gegenüberliegende Preßbacken (10,11; 36, 37, 54, 55) wenigstens eines Werkzeuges (4, 34, 35) an diesen derart verschwenkbar, daß das andere Werkzeug (5, 34, 35) beim Zusammenführen der Werkzeuge (4, 5, 34, 35) gegen die verschwenkbaren Preßbacken (10, 11, 36, 37, 54, 55) anfährt und sie aus einer Ausgangsstellung in eine der Preßraum ausbildende Preßstellung verschwenkt. <IMAGE>
