[origin: EP0490795A1] The subjects of the present invention are methods and devices for automatically manufacturing branch-off connections of conductive wire or fibre-optic harnesses, comprising several branches and branch-off connections. The present invention permits the production of branch-off connections which each length of wire of the harness will have to assume: - by identifying, for each length of wire (7f), the points associated with these branch-off connections by means of their abscissae on each wire (7f) as they progress and by putting them into branch-off gripping elements (3'f), - by forming these branch-off connections by collecting together, in the branch-off gripping elements (3'f), all the intermediate points associated with a single branch-off connection and by picking them up from the gripping elements in which they have been arranged. The branches (7) of the harness (7a, 7b,..., 7f) are separated and formed by moving these branch-off gripping elements (3'a, 3'b, ..., 3'f) apart. One application is the automatic manufacture of conductor wire harnesses. <IMAGE>
