[origin: US5720240A] A liquid-cooled cylinder head for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine includes a cooling water space divided into sections through which gas inlet and outlet passages and recesses for receiving spark plugs or fuel injection nozzles extend. A cooling water passage extends transversely to the longitudinal direction of the cylinder head in the bottom area of the cylinder head between the gas inlet and outlet passages and the recesses and leads to the water space. A cooling water supply passage which is in communication with an engine block cooling water jacket for receiving cooling water therefrom and which extends through the bottom area of the cylinder head to the cooling water passage, is integrally cast into the cylinder head along adjacent at least one of the gas outlet passages.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen flüssigkeitsgekühlten Zylinderkopf (1) für eine mehrzylindrige Brennkraftmaschine mit einem Kühlwasserraum (7), der sich in Kühlwasserraumabschnitte gliedert, die jeweils einem Brennraum (8) zugeordnet sind und durch die Gaswechselkanäle und mindestens eine Kammer (13) für eine Zündkerze oder eine Einspritzdüse verlaufen und in die in deren Bodenbereich zwischen den Gaswechselkanälen und der Kammer mindestens eine in Querrichtung verlaufende Kühlwasserbohrung (21) mündet, die durch einen Kühlwasserzulauf (22) mit dem Kühlwassermantel des Kurbelgehäuses verbunden ist. Um einen flüssigkeitsgekühlten Zylinderkopf (1) für eine mehrzylindrige Brennkraftmaschine so auszubilden, daß eine vereinfachte und damit kostengünstigere Herstellung und gleichzeitig eine verbesserte Kühlung des Zylinderkopfes gewährleistet ist, wird erfindungsgemäß vorgeschlagen, daß der Kühlwasserzulauf durch Gießen hergestellt wird. <IMAGE>
