Abstract (en)
The retractable antenna has a first helix section (35) and a second helix section (25) which are separated by an antenna rod (30), in an extended position. The second helix is situated in the region of an extremity of a drive connection. In the retracted position the helix antennas connect directly. In the open position, a quarter wavelength antenna is formed, producing a wide bandwidth, whilst in the retracted position the available bandwidth is much narrower. The antenna is connected to an output section (20).
