[origin: WO9737146A1] A device including a reference ring (50) made of a low-resistivity non-magnetic material and mounted on the rotor, stator coils adjacent to the reference ring (50), and AC power supply means for the coils, is disclosed. A ring-shaped race (60) made of non-conductive material comprises a thin cylindrical wall (61) that is concentric with the reference ring (50) and defines a gap (e) therewith, first and second parallel planar flanges (62, 63) extending perpendicularly to the axis (zz') of the thin cylindrical wall (61) on the opposite side from the reference ring (50), and an intermediate partition (64) parallel to the first and second planar flanges. The stator coils (B1, B2, B5, B6) are arranged in the ring-shaped race (60) and positioned by means of the intermediate partition (64).
