Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0893893A2] The method involves using a continuously rotating directional antenna, for measuring the field strength at selected angles, with a field strength signal provided by an omni-antenna (2) at the same intervals. The angle of the rotating antenna is stored alongside each measured field strength value. The angel is used together with the direction of the vehicle incorporating the measuring system, for providing the absolute angle for each measuring time point. The geographical position of the vehicle is obtained from an onboard global positioning system (GPS) and used to identify the position of each transmitter using a map.
