A heat treatment device for conducting heat treatment on a steel strip by blowing a jet of gas comprises a baffle plate attached to a forward end of a nozzle from which the jet of gas is blown out, wherein a projection area of the baffle plate is determined to be smaller than 3% with respect to an area of a cross-section of the nozzle, and a length of the baffle plate in the axial direction of the nozzle is determined to be not less than 50% of the nozzle diameter. <IMAGE>
