Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19746490A1] A fuel injection system has the facility to add an additional fluid e.g. water to improve emission products and efficiency. Two 2/2 valves replace two costly 3/2 valves. One valve (MV1) is connected between the common rail fuel supply and the injector and a second valve (MV2) is connected between the first valve and the low pressure side of the injectors, with a non return valve between the valve and the injector. A single pair of valves controls the amount and timing of additional fluid added to all the injectors.
