Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19729789A1] The invention relates to a multi-cylinder piston pump for high pressure fuel supply in fuel injection systems in internal combustion engines, particularly in a common-rail-injection system. The invention is characterized in that an even bearing surface (26) of the housing piece (22) rests, radially from the outside in relation to the motor shaft (4), against an even bearing surface (28) of the metallic base body (30) of the housing. A housing piece (22) section (66), which is concentric in relation to the cylinder chamber (12) and faces the motor shaft, extends through a radial opening (67) in the housing base body (30) towards the motor shaft (4). The fuel supply opening (46) and the fuel outlet (61) open onto the even bearing surface (26) and are aligned with other supply or outlet openings (47, 65) in the housing base body (30). The housing piece (22) is screwed (69) against the housing base body (30) in such a way that the bearing surfaces (26, 28) ensure high pressure sealing without the use of intermediary sealing elements.
