Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1052621A2] The method involves estimating a first bit error rate from a first number of input bits and a second bit error rate from a second number of input bits. A transformation unit (4) processes and combines the two bit error rates according to a transformation rule to determine quality information for input to the fault detection unit (2) to improve speech quality. An Independent claim is also included for a circuit for implementing the method.
