[origin: EP1138522A1] The method is for the adhesive fitment of a cover sheet (1) to the back of a book block (8) comprising bound sheets. It involves the cover sheet with its inside facing the book block back (9) pressed against the block back and against the lateral flanks (12) of the block back sides. The cover sheet, before being brought into connection with the book block back, is reduced on the inside at least over its width in relation to its remaining thickness. The cover sheet has decorative ribs (2,3) and the recesses between these ribs are lifted away before or after the ribs are produced.
