[origin: US2002014165A1] Process for operating a calender and a calender. The calender includes a hard roll and a soft roll with an elastic surface, in which the hard roll and the soft roll are arranged to form at least one nip, and a finishing medium application device positioned adjacent the soft roll. The process includes providing a finish on the elastic surface of the soft roll.

Es wird ein Kalander angegeben mit mindestens einem Nip (14-22), der durch eine harte Walze (3, 5, 8, 10) und eine weiche Walze (2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11) gebildet wird und ein Verfahren zum Betreiben dieses Kalanders 1. Hierbei möchte man die Qualität einer in dem Kalander behandelten Materialbahn (13) verbessern. Die Oberfläche der im Kalander eingebauten weichen Walze (7, 9, 11) wird mit einer Politur versehen. Hierzu ist an der weichen Walze (7, 9, 11) eine Politurmittelauftragseinrichtung (24-26) angeordnet. <IMAGE>
